⚡️ Another job where testing uncovered something that really shouldn’t be ignored! ⚡️

This one started as a fairly straightforward kitchen upgrade — but, as is often the case, the testing told a different story… 👀

🔧 The customer required:
• 4 new circuits for a new kitchen
• Consumer unit replacement
• SPD + individual RCBO protection
• Switch-fuse upgrade in the garage

During our initial inspection and testing, we noticed the property had a TN-C-S/PME supply, but also had an earth electrode installed.

When testing the earth electrode, the resistance was over 1999Ω — far from what we'd expect. 😬

Even more importantly, we found voltage present on the CPC back towards the supply cut-out, meaning we couldn't safely continue with certain tests.

🚨 Time to stop and investigate.

We contacted National Grid, who responded quickly and attended site. They identified that the earth link within the cut-out was missing.

The cut-out was replaced, the supply was made safe, and we were then able to continue with the installation and testing.

✅ 4 new kitchen circuits installed
✅ New consumer unit with SPD & RCBO protection
✅ Garage switch-fuse replaced/upgraded
✅ Supply issue identified and rectified
✅ Full testing and certification carried out

It’s a great example of why proper inspection and testing isn't just about ticking boxes — sometimes it uncovers issues that could otherwise go unnoticed.

Another project completed 🔧⚡

A great little garden transformation featuring:

• Warm white wall lights & spot lights

• All lighting fully dimmable for the perfect evening atmosphere

• Outdoor waterproof RCD socket installed

• 3 gang matt black dimmer switch to match the existing switch gear

• Motorised drop-down TV neatly hidden away in the ceiling for a clean finish

⚡️ Fuse board upgrade + fault fix completed ⚡️

Customer was experiencing repeated fuse wire failures—never a good sign. After fault finding, we traced it to a dead short in the porch light. Fault repaired and a new light fitting installed ✅
While on site, we identified a much bigger issue…

🚫 Outdated fuse board
🚫 No RCD protection
🚫 No surge protection
🚫 Flammable construction

We recommended an upgrade and the customer agreed to bring their installation up to modern safety standards 👇

✔️ New Lewden 6-way consumer unit
✔️ RCBO protection on every circuit
✔️ SPD (surge protection) installed
✔️ Shower supply rerouted
✔️ Earthing upgraded from 2.5mm to 16mm (TT system)

Fully tested, certified, and now a much safer home 🔒

🔌 Recent Project Completed – Bridgwater 🔌

We recently carried out a full electrical upgrade for a customer preparing a newly purchased property for rental in Bridgwater.

The job started with a full EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) to assess the condition of the installation and ensure it meets current standards. Following this, we completed a range of improvements to bring the property up to a safe, compliant, and modern standard.

✅ Installed a new metal consumer unit complete with RCBO protection and surge protection
✅ Identified and rectified all safety concerns found during inspection
✅ Upgraded sockets – converting singles to doubles where needed
✅ Chased in new shower supply for a cleaner finish
✅ Installed additional sockets, including extra points in the kitchen
✅ Replaced all switches and sockets with high-quality MK switchgear
✅ Updated all light fittings throughout the property
