On Monday we worked in Tangmere on a garden that had become a little overgrown, they'd wanted a wild garden but it had all got a bit much. There's a fine line between allowing a garden to be wild and then become untamed. You can attract the bees, butterflies and birds, hedgehogs too, but still enjoy the space yourself πŸŒžπŸŒ»πŸ€—πŸΈπŸπŸ¦‹

Keeping potted plants from drying out in the summer can be tough, and watering with a watering can can give the illusion you've hydrated the plant but often the water just comes out the bottom, leaving the plant dry. Immersing a potted plant in water (or bottom-watering) is a highly effective way to rehydrate severely dry soil that has become hydrophobic. It allows the potting mix to absorb moisture evenly from the bottom up, preventing dry pockets and ensuring the root ball is thoroughly saturated without disturbing the plant πŸͺ΄πŸŒ±πŸŒ»πŸŒž

Encourage birds into your garden and help them in the summer by putting water out for them. Best birdbaths mimic nature's birdbaths: puddles and shallow pools of water in slow streams. So look for a birdbath that's shallow, with a gentle slope so birds can wade into the water. you can even make your own birdbath using a dustbin lid, shallow pan, anything that holds water 🐦

β€œAll the names I know from nurse:
Gardener's garters, Shepherd's purse,
Bachelor's buttons, Lady's smock,
And the Lady Hollyhock.

Fairy places, fairy things,
Fairy woods where the wild bee wings,
Tiny trees for tiny damesβ€”
These must all be fairy names!

Tiny woods below whose boughs
Shady fairies weave a house;
Tiny tree-tops, rose or thyme,
Where the braver fairies climb!

Fair are grown-up people's trees,
But the fairest woods are these;
Where, if I were not so tall,
I should live for good and all.”

What a treat, on a very warm day drinks are very much appreciated, and this lovely customer in Tangmere gave me a custard cream and a chocolate digestive πŸ˜‹πŸŒž

We don't get much time to tend to our garden, but with the small raised bed we made last year and the plants we've packed into the small space, it pretty much looks after itself. We just get to enjoy it, along with the 🌸🌱🌿

What a difference some makes! Spring isn't here yet but the plants and bees are waking up from their slumber 🌞

Well what a very wet start we've had to 2026, I think we're all wishing for some drier days to come, with a bit of sun 🌞
Last week a customer asked me to make her a gate, to a specific size, so I hung it last week, she was very pleased, and I think it looks good.
