What does a fixed price guarantee actually mean?
Well, today’s job is a perfect example.
Even after carrying out a full site survey, sometimes things only become apparent once the installation starts or the boiler is being commissioned.
The first issue was the flue. Due to its position, we had underestimated the requirements and needed to install an additional flue extension and inspection hatch. Of course, this was sorted at no extra cost to the customer.
The second issue came during commissioning. We found the working gas pressure at the boiler was well below what it should be. Although the boiler would operate, this wasn’t acceptable and would affect the appliance warranty.
The team got to work, lifting carpets and gaining access to the existing gas supply. We found the pipework was undersized under the floor, so this was upgraded to ensure the boiler had the correct gas supply.
Again, all of this was completed at no extra cost to the customer.
As you can see from the photos, the pipework from the old boiler wasn’t the best. The guys have done a great job of tidying everything up and making it neat, while taking extra care not to cause any damage to the kitchen worktop.
The old boiler was also plugged directly into a socket. This has now been changed to a fused spur, bringing the installation in line with current requirements.
This is exactly why a proper installation and full commissioning process is so important. It’s not simply about fitting the boiler and walking away — the appliance needs to be checked to make sure it is operating safely and correctly.
Even with a full site survey, things can sometimes come to light once work starts. With a fixed price guarantee, those unexpected costs are ours, not the customer’s.
We’re not the cheapest quote you’ll receive, and nor do we aim to be.
We aim to do the job right, use the right materials, take the time to do things properly and make sure everything is safe and working as it should.
Because when it comes to your heating system, we believe the right job is worth paying for.
