Two quotations can look similar at first glance while describing different installations.

The panel count is only one line on the specification.

🔋 Battery capacity and inverter capability can differ.
🛠️ Mounting, access and installation work may not be identical.

Ask what is included, what is excluded and what could lead to an extra charge. Then ask why the proposed equipment suits your property.

A SOLAR INSTALLATION ISN'T FINISHED WHEN THE PANELS GO ON. ☀️📋

This Boldon Colliery project was commissioned in July 2025, combining a 5.28 kWp solar array with a Fox ESS hybrid inverter and battery.

The less visible parts mattered too.

⚡ Commissioning and metering.
📋 Documentation, warranties and the grid-connection application.
🏠 A handover that helps the owner understand the system.

A good roof photograph shows the equipment. It does not show every check, explanation or record involved in delivering the installation.

0% VAT ON SOLAR WON'T LAST FOREVER. ⏳☀️

Qualifying domestic solar and battery installations currently benefit from 0% VAT until 31 March 2027.

From 1 April 2027, HMRC guidance currently schedules a return to the reduced rate of 5% - not 20%.

That makes timing worth considering as part of your project plan.

A sound roof does not automatically need replacing. But fitting panels over a roof already due for major work can mean paying later to remove and reinstall them.

Powerwall 3 offers 13.5 kWh of energy storage. But choosing a battery is about more than how much it holds.

The useful questions are about what it will do in your home.

⏰ When will it charge and supply electricity?
🛡️ What backup capability is included in the actual design?

Equipment position, inverter capability, monitoring and Tesla app controls all belong in the conversation. Backup also needs the right configuration and an understanding of the loads it will support.

WHY AREN'T THESE PANELS PERFECTLY CENTRED? THERE IS A REASON. ☀️🔍

On this Tanfield project, the layout had to work around shading from trees and roof features. A neat rectangle in the middle of the roof was not the only consideration.

☀️ 9.6 kWp solar array.
🔋 Fox ESS battery storage.
⚡ A three-phase hybrid setup for the property.

The slate roof also needed appropriate fixings and weathering details. What you see in the photograph is the outcome of those decisions, not simply a panel count.

It is a useful reminder that good solar design responds to the building: roof shape, shading, electrical supply and household demand all matter.
