Why it’s essential to get your trees checked by an arborist.

Tree failure isn’t always obvious the damage can be completely hidden until it’s too late.

In this case, two acacias failed and split unexpectedly. One was entirely hollow inside. When they came down, they also damaged a beautiful dry stone wall.

Thankfully, no one was nearby to get hurt.

It’s a stark reminder that what looks healthy on the outside can tell a very different story within.

Regular arborist checks can identify hidden decay, structural weakness and risk long, before failure happens.

Planting has started to go in at the garden in Radley, where we’re working with Fern & Pine Garden Design Studio on this design.

Our usual ethos always applies: we build hardscaping that’s made to last. The unseen work matters just as much as the finished space and here you can already see the foundations of this patio are just as important as the end result.

Strong structure first, then everything else can flourish.

Working in and around Oxfordshire means we’re lucky enough to care for some truly beautiful gardens from elegant country homes and mature landscaped gardens to hidden little green spaces full of character.

Every garden is different, and that’s what we love most. One day we’re maintaining formal lawns and hedges, the next we’re working around wildflower borders, ponds or huge mature trees.

There’s a lot of hard work behind beautiful gardens… but getting to spend our days in spaces like these makes it pretty special.

Top 3 gardening myths that could actually be damaging your garden…

“More water equals healthier plants”
Usually the opposite. Overwatering can weaken roots and encourage rot.

“You should prune everything in spring”
Not always. Some plants flower on old wood, so badly timed pruning can mean no blooms at all.

“Feed plants little and often”
Too much fertiliser can create lots of leafy growth but weaker plants overall.

Gardening advice gets passed around for years, but not all of it is doing your garden any favours.

A really exciting project underway in Radley.

We’re currently carrying out the landscaping for this beautiful garden based on a fabulous design by Fern & Pine Garden Design Studio and it’s already starting to take shape.

Hardscaping is going in, planting has started, and we can already tell this one is going to be a special transformation. We’ll be sharing plenty of progress updates along the way.
