A transcritical CO2 DX system installed by our Yorkshire branch for a beef-chill, incorporating a warm glycol circuit that recovers waste heat from the CO2 pack for evaporator defrosting.

Four existing HFC systems will be decommissioned and removed in the future paving the way for the phased introduction of four new CO2 systems.

This environmentally friendly solution will help future-proof our customer’s site bypassing F-Gas regulations.

Our contracting team is currently installing a 2,500 kW heat reclaim system. The project features a custom-built steam generator skid—scheduled for manufacturing soon—that will heat a secondary glycol ring main (Coolflow DTX) serving three Air Handling Units. The system will deliver tempered fresh air to production areas for precise temperature control during winter months. The roof void pipework installation is complete, and our team has now progressed to installing the pipework on the factory roof.

The second phase integrates two packaged Vahterus heat exchanger skids designed to recover waste heat from both the high-side discharge line and the compressor glycol oil cooling circuit from one of our client's industrial pumped ammonia plants. Once fully implemented, the steam generator skid will transition to a backup role, operating exclusively during periods of zero site production.

Developing the next generation of engineers is something we’re passionate about, and we’re committed to providing our apprentices and junior engineers with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to build successful careers.

Last week, four of our junior engineers/apprentices attended a two-day electrical training course at our East Anglia branch. The course focused on simplifying electrics and improving fault-finding skills — valuable knowledge that they can take back into the workplace and apply in their day-to-day roles.

Investing in our younger generation isn’t just about developing technical skills; it’s about building confidence, encouraging problem-solving and giving the engineers of tomorrow the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.

We’re pleased to continue that commitment, with another electrical training course planned to take place at our head office soon, along with RDM training.

A walk-through video created by our team, showcasing one of our installation projects, which will commence on site soon.

The energy centre building will house the switch room and refrigeration plant room, featuring 11 Sabroe compressors that will provide simultaneous cooling, freezing and heating using natural refrigerants – ammonia and CO₂.

The completed plant will deliver: 650 kW of combined freezing capacity, 3,694 kW of cooling capacity and 4,300 kW of heating capacity

Operating temperatures:

• -43°C SST
• -27°C SST
• -2.0°C SST delivering glycol at +2°C
• -13.0°C SST delivering glycol at -10°C
• Two-stage heat pump supplying low-pressure hot water at +88°C

This is a prestigious project and a fantastic achievement for everyone involved. Delivering a project of this scale has required extensive planning, design and coordination, and we're proud of the team's commitment and expertise in bringing it together.

We look forward to sharing more progress as the installation continues.
