Following our previoust post we thought it would be great share this garden transformation - From Mud to Magic! ✨🌾
Back in January 2025, the pond was nothing more than a marked-out hole, with the patio in progress — plenty of mud, machinery, and patience required!
By February, the liner was down, the pebble edging taking shape, and the first frosty mornings showed off the clean lines of the new patio and pond profile.
Come spring, over a hundred pots stood ready and waiting to go in — the borders around the pond planted up bare, full of promise for the growing season ahead.
By early summer, the transformation was already unmistakable: lush marginal planting framing the water, irises in flower, and the clients resident bronze ducks taking up their spot on the patio!
By August 2025, the whole area had matured into a flourishing wildlife pond — full borders of verbena, rudbeckia, and grasses, with a swing seat and heron statue completing the scene.
And by November, even as the garden eased into autumn, the grasses and seed heads kept the pond area glowing with colour and texture.
Fast forward to now, August 2026, and the border has only grown richer — verbena, rudbeckia, sedum, persicaria, and ornamental grasses like Calamagrostis 'Karl Foerster' all jostling for space around the water, with phormiums and irises framing the pond edge and the bronze ducks still keeping watch over it all.
A brilliant reminder that great gardens are built in stages — and that a little patience through the mud pays off tenfold, year after year. 🦆🌾
