As part of National Apprentice Week we would like to shine the spotlight on Jack who is part of our award-winning 'Pathways to Success' initiative. A programme developed to support trainees, apprentices and those who want to learn while they work. Jack is a trainee Quantity Surveyor and he has quickly become a real presence within our business.

What stands out most about Jack is not only the knowledge he is gaining but the energy and curiosity he brings every day. Jack is moving through different departments, learning how the company operates and our delivery model, learning from colleagues with decades of experience. He is fully engaged, he is building relationships and he is making every opportunity count.

National Apprenticeship Week is a reminder of the value and importance that new talent brings to our industry. Jack is a great example of what happens when determination meets the right support. We are proud to have him as part of the Britcon family!

Katie began her journey with a placement in procurement before moving into a site role, where she has gained exposure to a diverse range of building and civil engineering works. Including new build and refurbishment projects, recently this has included a fast-track project at Kirklees College. Helping Katie to strengthen her planning, technical and communication skills on a high-quality development.

Today Britcon is taking part in Samaritans Brew Monday.

𝗔𝗕𝗣 𝗣𝗮𝗱 𝟰, 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲

We’re proud to share a visual milestone from our £5.5m redevelopment of Pad 4 at the Port of Immingham, the UKs largest port by tonnage!

Delivered safely on time and within budget for our long-standing, repeat business client Associated British Ports. Our flyover captures the transformation of a 5-hectare site into a well-drained open bulk storage area, with rail connectivity. a heavy-duty surface, security and lighting. With some excellent outcomes achieved, including:

✅ Earthworks, drainage, roadworks and pavement infrastructure
✅ 99% of waste recycled
✅ 2 new jobs created and 86 safeguarded
✅ Zero accidents - over 23,000 hours worked

This was a logistically complex live port site, with critical access and egress requirements, with historic railway sidings and challenging ground conditions. Through early engagement with specialist partners and project stakeholders, and the use of digital tools and sustainable practices. Our expert team engineered a high-quality sustainable solution aligned with ABP’s “Ready for Tomorrow” strategy.

Yesterday we hosted another important SHAD (Safety, Health and Awareness Day) event at our Hattersley site.

This session focused on underground services, groundworks, and plant-pedestrian segregation awareness, all critical areas for maintaining safe and efficient site operations.

We were pleased to be supported by representatives from PQS Survey Ltd, CMT Group (UK), SCP, MACHINE TECH, CHCNAV | Surveying & Engineering and HH Construction Groundworks Contractors Ltd.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed valuable insights into emerging technologies and collaborative approaches. With a special thanks to our site team for their continued dedication and support.

Days like this are vital in keeping our teams informed of new developments and effective working practices.

Britcon are proud to host events that place safety and best practice at the forefront. It was fantastic to see such strong engagement from all who attended.

Last week, Stockton Riverside College's Bricklaying and Property Maintenance students took part in learner engagement sessions at The Education Training Collective's new £14.7m NETA Training Relocation project in Thornaby. 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

We are currently undertaking piling activities on the site, and students took the opportunity to observe this process first-hand, including the specialist machinery involved.

These sessions allow learners to engage directly with our team and supply chain, asking questions about the project, and gaining valuable insights into careers within construction.

Hands-on experiences like these are essential to support their education and understanding, offering real-world exposure to live builds and encouraging curiosity through direct interaction.

Further NETA and Stockton Riverside College student site visits are planned at key milestones throughout the build.
