World Milk Day 2026 🐄

Today we're celebrating the dairy farmers who work 365 days a year to keep the industry moving.

From early mornings in the parlour to late nights during calving, dairy farming is a way of life that takes commitment and a lot of hard work.

Site Labourer – Snagging Squad
📍 Dumfries
🕒 Full-time, permanent

We’re looking for a Site Labourer to join our Snagging Squad, assisting with the erecting and cladding of steel framed buildings across the UK.

This role would suit someone with construction experience who enjoys working on-site as part of a team and takes pride in getting the final details right 👍

The role includes:
▪️ Assisting with steel erecting and cladding
▪️ Loading and unloading materials
▪️ Supporting skilled tradespeople on-site
▪️ Maintaining safe and tidy work areas
▪️ Travelling across UK sites with overnight stays when required

Experience within construction is preferred, and CSCS/CPCS cards, IPAF, Slinger/Signaller or First Aid qualifications would all be beneficial.

Two more builds progressing well and almost ready for the next stage 👏

Safety netting and edge protection now going in before roofing starts on both projects 👍

📍 Dumfries & Galloway

A major agricultural setup featuring two apex buildings:

▪️ 195ft x 72ft

▪️ 180ft x 76ft

Finished with galvanised steelwork, fibre cement roofing and Heatguard.

Concrete works on this one also include cubicle layouts, shuttered tanks and slurry channel systems across both buildings.

📍 Scottish Borders

80ft x 40ft standalone grain store with 20ft eaves.

This build features:

▪️ 140mm concrete panels for grain retention

▪️ Fibre cement roof with closed ridge and foam fillers

▪️ Roller shutter access for machinery and loading

▪️ Shotblasted and painted steelwork with red semi oxide finish

Good to see both projects taking shape and ready for roofs to start going on 👀

Another local Dumfries & Galloway build completed 👏

📏 80ft x 37’6” (or 279sqm. If you know, you know 😉) agricultural building with 13ft eaves, built for reliable day-to-day use.

Key features include 👇

▪️ Shotblasted and painted steel frame with a red semi oxide finish

▪️ Fibre cement roof sheeting with Heatguard 50 positioned either side of the ridge

▪️ Sliding doors for straightforward access and maximum usable floor space

▪️ 90mm concrete panels fitted around the base for added protection and durability

For this build, Heatguard was installed at the highest point of the roof to help improve light levels while controlling heat build-up and supporting natural airflow.

A great looking setup and another quality build finished by the team 👍

A few local site visits for Ryan to round off the week 👏

First stop was the recently completed cubicle house and milking parlour project we shared earlier this week 🐄

The scale of this one has been incredible:

📏 Main cubicle building: 264ft x 107ft with 15ft eaves
📏 Apex lean-to building: 224ft x 70ft

Now fully operational, it’s great to see the cows settled in and milking underway.

We also visited another project currently taking shape - an extension which will create three new feed bunkers 👀

Always good getting out on site and seeing projects progress from the first steel columns right through to fully operational farm buildings 👍

We love getting out and about in the community and helping inspire the next generation👏

Yesterday was a busy one for the Robinsons team with not one, but two school events!

First up, Andrew from our Design Team attended a local primary school careers event at Hightae Hall, speaking to pupils about what it’s like working in design and construction.

There were some brilliant questions from the kids and plenty of interest in what goes on behind the scenes at Robinsons 👀

(Although the sweeties definitely disappeared the fastest…)

The event also brought together loads of different local careers, from NHS workers and police forensics to farmers, artists, cooks and social workers 👍

Meanwhile, four of us headed to Bang Goes DG in Dumfries, Scotland’s largest one-day STEM event, where hundreds of S1–S3 pupils got hands-on with science, engineering and manufacturing activities.

We brought along real materials used on Robinsons buildings, including fibre cement roofing and steel cladding, and challenged pupils to guess which part of the building they came from 🏗️

Then came the serious business…

The K’NEX shed challenge 👀

Teams had 90 seconds (although some suspiciously negotiated a full 2 minutes… 😂) to build the best agricultural shed possible.

Some were structurally sound.
Some were colourful.
Some were… abstract.

A brilliant day all round and great to see so much enthusiasm👍

Grassroots football is so important and it’s great to support a local team and all the hard work that goes into the club from players, coaches and parents alike.
