Quality filters aren't expensive... machine failures are.
Over the past week we've been involved in two completely separate investigations that highlight why filtration should never be chosen on price and convenience alone.
In one case, a customer experienced failures across eight Yanmar engines.
In another, a separate customer was faced with replacing a hydraulic pump.
While every mechanical failure has multiple contributing factors, the investigations in both cases identified the filtration used as one of the contributing factors. The filters fitted were from unrecognised, lower-quality brands that raised concerns about whether they were capable of providing the level of protection the equipment required.
A filter's job isn't just to trap contaminants when everything is running perfectly. Its real value is protecting critical engine and hydraulic components when operating conditions become more demanding. That's when the quality of the filter media, construction and engineering really matters.
When filtration falls short, the consequences can include:
โ Costly component failures
โ Unplanned downtime
โ Reduced productivity
โ Expensive repairs and replacement parts
Following one of these incidents, the customer made the decision to dispose of their remaining stock of those filters and replace them with a substantial order of recognised premium brands supplied by FilterMania, including Donaldson, MANN+HUMMEL and Hifi Filter.
At FilterMania, we've always believed that you shouldn't have to choose between Quality, Price and Convenience.
That's why we supply recognised OE and OE-equivalent filtration brands with proven reputations - never own-brand filters or products of unknown point of origin.
Before your next service, ask yourself:
Do you know who actually manufactures the filters you're fitting?
Because when it comes to protecting equipment worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds, the cheapest filter can sometimes become the most expensive decision.
