On our last couple of projects we have been installing wireless switches.

For this project the previous electrician got the wiring all mixed up on the stairs. To get over this issue we used wireless switches from Forum Lighting Solutions supplied by KEW Electrical Distributors Gloucester.

We were able to mount switches at the top and bottom of each stairs to control all landings and hallway lights. This allowed the customer to walk upstairs with a light on rather than fumble around in the dark. The other advantage was that we didn’t have to damage any walls pulling new cables in to fix the problem. Great success👍

These wireless switches have so many uses. I am looking forward to using them in some garden lighting projects in the future.

Hi I am Harry.
Owner of PYM Electrics.
Here is a little bit about me….
From leaving school I joined the Royal Engineers(Army) where they gave me a good base knowledge of electrical installation and the theory behind it.
After leaving in 2012 I then joined a large local company who were involved in a whole manner of different projects like houses school’s and nursing homes. They gave me my first role as lead electrician completing a new bus station.
Since then I have run countless projects big and small.
I have over 10years of industry experience.
I am always looking to expand my knowledge, expertise of practices and materials to make my projects better for my customers.
I pride myself on being neat, tidy and professional.
In my spare time I also volunteer for Seven Area Rescue Association.

To finish of this week we were fault finding.
We were chasing out a long time fault that had finally stopped working.
As the house is an old property I suspected it might have been vermin damage, water ingress or possibly one of many junction boxes that were probably fitted over the years.
We lifted a few floor boards to hopefully find the problem. We eventually managed to narrow it down to a cable between to walls.
After taking the sockets and back boxes of the wall we found this mess of cables all joined together.
I don’t think I have ever seen a a fault so scorched.
I think the customer was lucky with this one, as the cables we drilled through the brickwork and not touching any woodwork.
Fault removed and power restored safely.

Final job of the week was to install this blinging fitting from Saxby Lighting. It was the final touch to a new build family main bathroom. Even comes with a handy mirror to check for bald spots.

This weeks jobs involve lighting alterations to allow for a new bedroom layout. We are adding Ansell Lighting prism pro Downlights which are white scale colour selectable(different shades of white). They are also changeable wattage 5-7w output. This really gives the client options. We are combining these with kinetic wireless switches to give the ability to move switch locations around the room with minimal damage in the future. Also probably one of the tightest lofts I have ever worked in.
