This job came to us after the customer had already had two bad experiences with builders, so it wasn’t just about doing the work, it was about rebuilding trust as well.

The storage under the stairs was unsafe and starting to fall apart, so we stripped it all back, rebuilt it properly, and made a few upgrades to the living space at the same time.

Nothing fancy, just turning up every day, doing things properly, and making sure the customer felt comfortable every step of the way.

Massive shout to the lads as well, Jamie, Tyler, Alun and Scott, top work all round 👏

End result speaks for itself, but this review means more than anything.

Another big step completed today on our Tŷ Isaf project — carpets and vinyl now going down and the finish line is in sight 👌

Seeing the final layers go in is always one of the most satisfying stages of a refurbishment. After all the structural work, prep, and detailing — the new flooring transforms the feel of the whole property and brings everything together.

Most lofts in UK homes are not built to take weight ,they’re designed to hold the ceiling and insulation only.

When people lay boards straight on the joists, this is what happens:

❌ Insulation gets crushed → your home loses heat

Weekends are for family, fresh air, and recharging.

This morning I was up on Caerphilly Mountain walking the dogs with my partner ,no sites, no calls, no noise… just space to breathe and reset.

🚨 Why does my garage conversion smell damp? 🚨
This is one of the most common questions we get called out for after the work has already been done.

If your converted garage smells musty, damp, or “cold”, it’s usually not bad luck… it’s bad planning.

Here are the real reasons it happens 👇

❌ No damp-proof membrane (DPM)
Garages were never designed to be lived in. Without a proper DPM under floors and behind walls, moisture rises straight into the room.

❌ Cold concrete floors left untreated
Concrete sweats. If it’s not insulated and sealed correctly, moisture builds up underneath your finishes.

❌ Single-skin walls not insulated properly
Garages often have thin walls. If insulation isn’t done correctly, you get cold bridging → condensation → damp smells.

❌ Poor ventilation
No trickle vents, no airflow, no extractor = trapped moisture with nowhere to go.

❌ Incorrect plastering systems
Standard plaster straight onto cold or damp surfaces will absorb moisture and hold smells.

❌ Rushed or “cheap” conversions
This is a big one. Quick turnarounds and budget quotes often skip the unseen but critical steps.
