🚨 Hiring an Electrician? Read This First. ⚡
Do you know if someone is offering electrical services and is not part of a registered governing body such as NAPIT, NICEC or SELECT they cannot self certify their work and subsequently issue compliance notifications to local area building control.
💡 Here’s what you need to know:
✅ Only registered electricians can carry out and self-certify notifiable electrical work in your home (under Part P of the Building Regulations).
✅ Always ask to see proof of registration (e.g. with NICEIC, NAPIT, Select etc.), just having the 18th edition for example does not make someone a quailified electrician. These governing bodies carry out proof of qualifications and insurance checks as well as yearly assessments of the electricians competence.
✅ Poor or unsafe work can lead to fires, electric shocks, or invalidated insurance if carried out by someone unable to certificate notifiable work.
As a fully qualified and registered electrician, I take pride in doing things the right and safe way.
