🎙Early Onset Grub Treatment time!🎙

It is currently Crane Fly / Daddy long legs season. They will very soon be mating and using nearby lawns to lay their eggs. These eggs become a grub known as Leather Jackets 🪱 which can be extremely destructive to lawns. They eat the roots of the lawn, which then results in it looking patchy and bare all over. Check out the images below, as this is the consequence of having leather jackets in the lawn.

Our preventative product E.O.G.T. has proved very successful for the last three years. Hence the reason for us offering it again this year. We have the license to use this, as previously, this was only allowed for use within the farming industry.

The best time for this treatment is within the next 4 to 6 weeks as this is when they are in their early stages of growth. You may have recently noticed a lot of Crane fly activity which can be a sign of possible future problems. If you have also had leather jackets in your lawn previously, we would strongly advise speaking to our experts about the new treatment.

🌞Lawn treatments in warm & dry weather🌞

Despite the persistent period of extremely warm and dry weather, our summer treatment is still going to be effective. All treatments are bespoke to the needs of your lawn but we regularly do a two part treatment: one part will have an immediate effect and the other a slow release granular feed, which as soon as it is exposed to any sort of moisture (including morning dew), it will start to release much needed nutrients back into the lawn and will also be ready and waiting for when any rain returns or you choose to water.

❗Please note: Without a treatment, there is a really strong chance your lawn will not recover when rain becomes more frequent. Like with all of our treatments, they are bespoke to each lawn, but currently they are designed to help aid with the lawns recovery, either with manual watering, or when the weather breaks and the rain returns.

Time for a summer sprinkle??? 💦

With the very warm and dry weather of late, it would be beneficial to water your lawn, especially if you haven't already. Otherwise, you may notice your lawn regressing rather than progressing at the time of year when you want to be admiring and using your lawn the most.

We recommend watering your lawn with a sprinkler, for roughly an hour in an area that the sprinkler will cover, as this will enable it to find the roots, rather than the other way round. You may need to repeat this process by moving it around into other positions, until the whole lawn has been covered.

All plants, including your lawn, need water, especially in conditions like we are currently seeing.

Top Tip
A good way of ensuring your lawn has had enough water is to put an empty jam jar (or something similar) underneath your sprinkler, and once there is roughly a couple of inches of water in there, your lawn is sufficiently watered. It's better to water heavily every couple of days, rather than doing it less but on a daily basis..
