RECENT WORK — BATHROOM & WC REFRESH 🔧
A recent rental-property bathroom refresh that turned into a little more than originally planned.
The main bathroom was stripped back and refreshed with:
• PVC wall panelling
• new vinyl flooring over a prepared and lined subfloor
• new shower screen and bath panel
• boxing-in of exposed pipework
• ceiling and joinery redecoration
• sealing, trims and final finishing
• existing bath and basin retained and reinstated where still serviceable
During the works, we also uncovered an unexpected issue in the separate WC.
Once the toilet was removed, rot was found in the subfloor. The existing toilet was also found to be cracked and leaking around the waste outlet.
Rather than simply refitting over the problem, the affected flooring was cut out, additional timber support was installed and the damaged section was replaced with 18mm OSB3.
A complete replacement toilet was then fitted with a new pan connector, seals, fixings and seat — with the full replacement unit sourced for the same cost as the previously approved replacement pan.
It’s a good example of why proper preparation matters.
Sometimes the most important part of a refurbishment is the work you don’t see once everything is finished.
