C16 is usually sourced (Not exclusively) and is a fast grown timber. You can get treated C16 but this certainly didn't have any stamps to say so, which is unusual if it is. It's better suited to internal use on things like stud walls.

Whereas C24 is usually European sourced (for the UK at least) and is a slow grown timber that is much more structurally sound. External timber must be treated to UC3 for above ground use, and UC4 when in contact with the ground.

Out with the old rotten poorly built deck and in with the new! Not quite finished yet as we're waiting for some slate grey coping stones for the top of the wall, but what an improvement already! 😍💪
