Recent work we completed near Falkirk - the client had several mature trees in their back garden and a lovely birch in the front, all were very sentimental as they were planted by their dad while they were a child. The trees had filled their space and started to crowd the house and surrounding garden. We took a careful approach to pruning the trees to give the customer more space and light while retaining the natural look and size of the trees. 

We also removed a multi-stemmed cypress which had begun to split apart, we ground the stump out to allow the client to replant this area. All the waste was chipped and removed with the garden left tidy for the client.

This spruce near Airdrie was a challenging removal! Seven telephone wires running from the pole behind and a shed and fence underneath. We carefully disentangled the lower branches from the cables, then lowered the higher branches and logs down into a neat pile. All the waste was chipped and the logs left manageable for the client.

This client in St Andrews had some concerns about their ash tree - with clear signs of decline caused by ash dieback, plenty of deadwood and a young family who played in the garden underneath the tree, the decision was made to remove the tree. 

All the waste was chipped and removed with the logs left stacked neatly for them to split in to firewood.

This mature beech in Fife had been identified in an arboricultural survey as being high risk, partly due to the included bark between the codominant stems and partly due to a large wound on the back which had begun to rot. We dismantled the tree to protect the surrounding trees as well as the neighbour's property from damage.

All the waste was chipped and logs left stacked for the client to recover.

We recently carried out some windblow works and small fence repair for Tilhill Forestry.

As requested we removed the large windblown ash and snapped ash heads that had fallen onto the fence and into the spruce plantation.

Some large oak overhangs were also cut back to the fence line to prevent future failure.

The fence was left undamaged from the works and was able to be stapled back up.

A recent job we completed for a client in Dundee - a lovely eucalyptus in a busy urban environment. The client wanted to control the size and re-establish a view as the tree had grown quite large for the space.

As a mature trees the inside was very sparse in terms of growth to cut back to, so we were restricted with how much it could be reduced. We removed 2-3ft sections and pruned out the deadwood.

Alongside this larger tree we removed a decaying cherry tree and pruned multiple mature apple trees in the back garden. 

The client was happy with the result and looking forward to getting their garden sorted for the summer!

We were carrying out work on an estate in Fife for SP Energy Networks. Whilst examining the site for work by the power line, our team identified a serious hazard nearby. A large ash tree showed clear signs of active failure — a significant vertical crack was visibly opening and closing with the wind. On closer inspection, the stem was completely hollow.

With the tree within striking distance of multiple structures, urgent action was required. We raised it with the estate and they asked us to remove the tree immediately. 

We climbed a nearby tree for a safe anchor point, before swinging in to the failing ash. We dismantled it in large sections to minimise the time spent in the tree.

This was a high-risk scenario that required calm decision-making, technical climbing, and efficient ex*****on. In the end, the tree was removed safely and the estate will process the logs in to firewood.

Following the autumn storms, our client experienced a serious tree failure when a mature beech came down — strong winds revealed that the roots had completely rotted away. The tree fell just a few feet from the neighbour’s house.

Naturally, this raised concerns about other nearby trees, particularly a large sycamore that heavily overhung the neighbour’s house and sheds.

This was a technically demanding dismantle. Working alongside RB Trees, we carefully rigged and sectionally dismantled the sycamore, lowering each piece in a controlled manner to avoid any damage. Once reduced to a short stem, we safely felled the remaining section.

All branches were chipped on site for landscaping use, and the logs were processed into firewood. The main stem was sent away to be milled into boards — giving the client a lasting and meaningful reminder of the old tree!
