Another driveway transformation well underway 👌

This project has already had a complete dig-out, new sub-base, preparation and new block paving installed, with the finish really starting to take shape.

We’ve still got a few final details to complete before the full reveal:

• Tarmac frontage
• Composite boundary fencing
• Final kiln-dried sanding
• Final clean-up and finishing touches

A big thanks to our suppliers for keeping the materials moving and helping us keep the project on schedule.

Looking for an old-school welder / fabricator who can make us a small batch of proper heavy-duty shovels.

We’re fed up of buying supposedly “professional” shovels that last the lads five minutes before the welds crack or the heads bend.

We want something built properly:
Heavy-duty steel shaft
Thick steel blade
Proper full welds
Hardwood grip
Strong enough for daily groundworks, sand, MOT Type 1, post hole shovelling through roots and general site abuse

Made to last, not throwaway tools that we can continue to sharpen as needed

We already have the basic drawings and dimensions thrown together with the help of Ai — we just need someone local who knows how to fabricate something properly and takes pride in their work.

Ideally Solihull / Birmingham / West Midlands.

Another full garden transformation underway this week 👌
This project started with a serious amount of demolition and groundwork.
We removed three separate patios that had been laid on top of each other, along with the old fencing to both sides of the garden, before stripping the area back ready to rebuild it properly.
Big shout out to Clayton Waste Services LTD for clearing away all the waste material and Birmingham Grab Hire & Aggregates Ltd for all muckaway and stone deliveries.
The preparation so far has included:
✅ Removal of 3 existing patios, fencing and waste
✅ New concrete-post fencing installed
✅ Concrete foundations & dense blockwork for the new retaining walls and step formations
✅ Non-Woven geotextile membrane to help with ground stability
✅ MOT Type 3 and Type 1 used to backfill and build the patio up to the required finished height
✅ Sub-base compacted in stages ready for the new paving installation
The finished design will feature Chorus White porcelain paving on a raised patio space, 3 signature feature steps and split-face tiled upstands to all faces.
A huge amount of the work on a project like this disappears beneath the finished surface, but getting the foundations, retaining structure and sub-base right is what gives the patio its strength and longevity.
