These two,feverfew & geranium, are working well together, they both release a scent that deters aphids but with all the colour invite pollinators into the garden whilst looking pretty.

A grass snakes skin that was shed on today’s garden… a find that thrills us as it’s a great indicator of a wildlife friendly garden but some customers aren’t so keen 😆

A little update of photos of The Old Medicine Garden that Lydia’s been working on as a side project…. Including a litter of kittens that she found up there!
It’s an exciting time to watch a kitchen garden with so much growing and so much activity from pollinators.
We do have an Instagram page dedicated to the garden and there will be some more exciting news coming from there over the next few months. Link in comments for insta pg ☺️

It's not just me who really appreciates my customers allowing me to just cut this section of grass one time per year !

It allows this area to be turned into a micro climate meadow which is a buffet for pollinators .

This area also benefits , butterflies, caterpillars, frogs , mice , toads , hedgehogs and small Mammals x

Notice these little bubbles in your garden?
Don't worry, they are absolutely harmless to your plants.
Since we are being asked to pause on bird feeders right now, our gardens need to provide natural food instead. 🐦
These little insects are a vital, healthy part of nature's balance, helping to feed nesting birds and their chicks. 🐣
if you look closely, the tiny green spittlebug with its little black eyes is actually quite sweet.
If the foam bothers you, a gentle splash of water is all it takes. Otherwise, let's just let nature do its thing….the foam will naturally be gone soon enough.

A little update on Lydia’s kitchen and medicine garden which she started in Feb:

The transformation from February to today has been great fun with a lot of focus on clearing & prep but it’s far from finished and attention is really on great soil & great produce whilst maintaining the balance of nature.
Lydia always wanted this to be a creative space that flows naturally with the land, works with nature and its existing ecosystem, avoiding sharp, unnatural lines and relying on natural or recycled resources. Really enjoying the flow of beds as she follow the contours of the land and start tapping into using the swales which are partially established. The only things paid for so far are seeds & chalk pens. There’s still plenty to do as this is a long term sustainable project
