A few photos of our latest cellar insulation job. This time we stripped out the old lath/plaster ceiling and insulated with wood fibre. We then attached a breathable membrane and used airtightness tape at the perimeter walls to stop any draughts. 👍

If you have a cold living or dining room above a cellar, then this type of "retrofit" solution can make a big difference to how warm that room feels in the colder months. 🔥

As we go into the colder months at SY Ecofit CIC, we've been busy with more floor insulation jobs.

Many Sheffield living/dining rooms really feel the cold due to draughty, uninsulated floors. 🥶

We've had a busy summer at Ecofit CIC! Here are some photos of what we've been up to... 👀

We're a local social enterprise and use natural, breathable insulation (h**p, wood fibre, wool etc.) to make Sheffield homes greener and more energy efficient. The "retrofit" work we do makes rooms warmer and cosier in winter, and helps with overheating in summer. It also keeps the bills down. 🏡🌏🔥

We offer various retrofit services including: floor insulation, loft insulation (and boarding for storage), internal wall insulation, draughtproofing, ventilation work, room-in-roof (attic) insulation & conversions, insulated eco extensions etc.

We're developing a project to Save Our Sheffield Terrace and we're looking for people who'd like to help shape it.
For nearly 200 years, Sheffield's terraces have been home to generations of people, industrial workers, and families, students, immigrants, all contributing to a diversity that makes our city what it is today. We want to make sure that these homes are fit for future generations to enjoy in an ever changing climate.
We believe these homes are part of our shared heritage. By understanding their history, celebrating the people who have lived in them and caring for them appropriately, they can continue to provide healthy, sustainable homes for generations to come.
We're looking for local residents, historians, heritage organisations, artists, architects, retrofit specialists, community groups and anyone passionate about Sheffield's history to help us develop ideas around:

🎙️ Oral histories and storytelling
🏡 Caring for historic homes, retrofitting for a net zero future
🌿 Heritage, conservation and climate resilience
