Shade loving plant recommendations (Ad 🌙) I love shady gardens because you get to work with such interesting foliage and texture. Full plant list and discount code below, so save this post 💌. BUT, first…
🌓Before you choose plants, check if your working with full shade or partial shade.
Plants that only tolerate partial shade will really struggle in full shade.
To be honest, in most urban gardens, you will have a lot of partial shade and I know it’s the full shade that is trickiest. For each plant I’ve put the MOST shade it can tolerate - e.g Heuchera can tolerate full shade but also partial shade. One of the many reasons I loveeeee heucheras!
💌 Plant list:
Brunnera Jack Frost
Anemone Fantasy Pochahuntas
Carex Prairie Fire
Pennisetum Hameln
Tiarella Angel Wings
Geum Totally Tangerine
Heuchera Midnight Rose
Hydrangea Vanille Fraise 🌓
🌟 Bonus options: astrantia, astillbe, hardy geraniums, forget me bots, hostas, hellebores and foxgloves are also all brilliant for shade and all VERY beautiful (and I have those in other areas!!)
All these plants were from gardenersdream.co.uk. If you’re in the mood to buy some beautiful new plants, you can get 15% off (including sale) with my code SARAH15. You know I love a discount code so feel free to use and abuse that! 😘🤑
‼️If you order plants online, it’s important to open them as soon as possible, give them air and keep them moist until you can plant them. Plants do not like being kept in boxes for long! It can help to prepare your planting area before they arrive.
And if you’re new here, hi 👋 I’m Sarah Rose and I garden in my rented houseshare in Sheffield. I love to share my design ideas and celebrate how garden supports nature and our mental and physical health!
