One Impossible Slope. One Garden a Family Can Finally Use.
This is the biggest transformation we've taken on in a long time. And the hardest.
The brief: a garden that dropped away dramatically the moment you stepped out the back door. A few usable metres, then a steep slope. Two young children and nowhere safe to play. A space the family couldn't actually use.
So we built them one.
A 1.5-metre gabion structure — a one-metre basket with a 500 on top — filled with limestone, engineered to hold. This wasn't stacked and hoped. Structural engineering, full plans, done properly from the ground up. That structure is what created a 7-metre flat patio out of thin air where a hillside used to be.
On top: a porcelain patio built for entertaining. Fresh turf for the kids. Gabion steps leading down to the rest of the garden. All finished with a glass balustrade.... safe, clean, and open so nothing interrupts the view.
Here's the part most wouldn't take on: there was no access to the garden. Every tonne of material went in by conveyor belt. No shortcuts, no excuses just the graft it takes to build something properly when the site fights you every step.
The result? A garden that dropped away is now a level, safe, beautiful space a family will enjoy for years. The customer's over the moon — and rightly so.
This is what we mean by solid foundations. Sometimes that's not a figure of speech.
