THE HIDDEN COST OF MISSED BOILER SERVICING❗🤑

A customer called us after their heating stopped working and they discovered their oil boiler was leaking. 💦

Upon inspection we found several internal baffles had become severely corroded due to a lack of regular servicing. This caused excessive heat build-up, which cracked the water jacket and led to the leak.

Unfortunately, the damage was beyond economical repair, so the boiler had to be replaced. 😢

A simple annual boiler service could have identified the worn baffles early, and replacing them would have been a much cheaper solution than replacing the entire boiler. Proof that regular servicing can save you money in the long run.💷

If you smell gas (a rotten egg smell), you should act immediately. 👃

⚠️Open all doors and windows
🚭 Don't smoke or use matches
💡 Don't switch electrical appliances or light switches on or off
🔒 Turn off the gas at the meter if it's safe to do so
🚪 Leave the property as soon as possible and don't return until you've been told it'safe to do so

⚠️ GAS SAFETY WEEK | CARBON MONOXIDE

Carbon monoxide (CO) is colourless, odourless and tasteless, making it difficult to detect. Knowing the warning signs and taking a few simple steps can help keep your home and family safe:

1️⃣Know the symptoms – headaches, dizziness, nausea, tiredness and confusion. Symptoms may improve when you leave the affected area but return when you go back. You must seek medical advice.
3️⃣Never ignore the warning signs – if your CO alarm sounds or you suspect CO, get outside into fresh air and seek medical advice.
2️⃣Install a CO alarm – test it regularly and replace the batteries when needed.
4️⃣Have your gas appliances serviced regularly by a Gas Safe registered engineer, such as SGS.
