Something a little different today.

We have fitted these RGBW (colour changing) flood lights to this dance studio in Bedford.

This allows them to create different themes for their dance videos as well as having the lights fade from colour to colour.

As well as the lights we installed an additional double socket for the stereo/camera location.

All wired in surface white pvc conduit with fire rated wrap around saddles to comply with regs, but also for a neat finish ✅️

On a routine EICR last month, we discovered the the lighting to this property in Cople was wired in very dated and corroding rubber insulated cables.

This type of wiring is ATLEAST 65 years old, probably older. Due to its age, the insulation just crumbles away leaving a dangerous exposed conductor which can be a fire risk, especially in older properties. 🔥

We carried out a full lighting rewire, using wireless switches to minimise disruption to the tenants and minimal making good ✅️

While at it, we installed some mains interlinked smoke detectors 🚨

A new consumer unit was also required.⚡️

These types of jobs, in occupied buildings are tricky and although a lot of work goes in, the end product is pretty much the same, just much safer.

A satisfactory EICR has now been issued and the property is good until the next inspection in 5 years time.

Out with the old and in with the new!

Following an inspection earlier on in the year, we carried out a mains change at this commercial premises today.

The install was stripped right back and all condensed into 1 larger distribution board.⚡️

Back again in a few weeks for phase 2 and upgrading distribution boards elsewhere in the building ⚡️

⚡️EICR⚡️

Just few of the many photos taken at this week's EICR at an industrial workshop property in Gamlingay.

The installation has grown and grown with very little upgrade works to the mains, resulting in a very outdated system that is in need of attention in pretty much every area.

With testing complete, we are labelling everything up so that the client knows what's fed from where, ahead of agreeing staged upgrade works to meet the electrical requirements whilst also considering the customers business requirements.

Watch this space for the upgrade work in the coming months! ✅️

A couple of very similar jobs from last week.

The first one we have ran the supply and a network cable for internet connection, clipped right the way round the house and buried down the edge of the garden, to a parking space at the rear of the property

With no secure wall to mount the charger we fitted this free standing post and charger (both supplied by the customer) to the concrete floor. All commissioned and ready for the arrival of their new EV.

Second one was for one of our commercial customers. Fire risk assessment noted one of the apartments had a charger installed by others fixed to the wooden bin store.

A new concrete pad was laid and the charger relocated onto a metal post away from the bins but still within reach of the residents parking space.

Out with the old and in with the new!

Bank holiday shift to replace the 3 phase board and re-pipe some 25mm galv conduit at this industrial unit in St Neots.

The original board was over 50 years old and well out dated which was the cause for most of the failures on the report.

The conduit had been pulled off the wall to make way for the mezzanine floor, but never rectified.

All good for another 5 years until the next EICR ✅️

One of this week's call outs - reports of the tenant getting a tingle from the shower following a plumber replacing the unit.

They didn't check the pull cord which had badly burnt out, meaning no earth connection to the shower. This lead to 24 volts being present on the actual shower head. Not what you want in the shower.😬⚡️

New pull cord installed there and then and the installation safe again ✅️

One of todays jobs was made more interesting by a fallen tree blocking the lane to the customers property.

Thankfully not too far from their house so we were able to crack on and upgrade their existing CCTV system. 🎦

The existing cameras had fogged up with moisture meaning the pictures were hazey in the day and non-existent at night.

New HD Bullet cameras installed, with a few tweaks to their positioning to give optimum coverage.

Back in a few weeks for the next round of works for this customer✅️⚡️
