At Swainlands, we're always looking for ways to improve how we work, not just for our clients, but for the environment too. That's why we've joined the Ceresgreen Carbon Tracking Scheme, supporting our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.

As specialists in heritage facades, stadium refurbishments and complex construction projects, we're increasingly working in an industry where embodied carbon, Scope 3 emissions and PPN 006 compliance* are becoming more important. By taking part in the scheme, we're investing in a clearer understanding of our environmental impact and identifying practical ways to reduce it.

The scheme will help us measure our carbon footprint, explore opportunities to improve our environmental performance and identify funding that could support future sustainability initiatives. It's another step towards ensuring we're prepared for the evolving expectations of our industry while continuing to deliver the high standards our clients expect.

For us, sustainability isn't just about meeting requirements; it's about taking responsibility, improving the way we operate and helping build a more sustainable future for the construction industry.

Celebrating 50 Years of Swainlands! 🎉

Last week, we marked a huge milestone, our 50th anniversary, with a wonderful celebration alongside valued clients and colleagues at Aragon House in Fulham.

It was fantastic to catch up with so many familiar faces and celebrate five decades of growth, partnership, and success together. Founded by Tom Swainland Senior, the company has grown from a single vision into a trusted presence within the construction sector, built on hard work and dedication.

In celebration of Swainlands’ continued growth, we are proud to mark a significant milestone year, recognising both Swainlands’ 50th anniversary and Tom Swainland turning 80. This year brings both milestones together, which is why we have also taken the opportunity to introduce a refreshed brand identity.

Contract Completion: Barons Wood, Surrey! 🎉

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of basement waterproofing and refurbishment works at Barons Wood, Surrey.

The project involved the installation of a Type C cavity drainage system throughout the basement area, providing a long-term solution to mitigate water ingress and protect the property. The drainage system was installed in accordance with the homeowner's requirements, creating a dry and functional space for future use.

To facilitate the works, existing wall and floor coverings were removed, electrical and plumbing services were isolated where necessary, and internal partitions were stripped out and reinstated following the installation.

The refurbishment works also included:

✔️ New plasterboard installations to internal partitions
✔️ New floor screed and floor coverings
✔️ Replacement architraves, skirting boards and door linings
✔️ Installation of new fire-rated entrance and cupboard doors
✔️ Full decoration throughout the basement

Working alongside specialist waterproofing contractors, the project delivered a complete wall and floor drainage solution and a high-quality finished environment for the client.

Contract Announcement: Deptford, London 🏠

We’re thrilled to announce our latest project involving the full external refurbishment of residential properties in Deptford, London. 🎉

Scope of Works:

🔹 Complete removal of existing white render to all elevations, taken back to blockwork
🔹 Installation of a new high-performance silicone render system
🔹 Careful removal and reinstallation of all external windows and doors
🔹 Replacement of window sills
🔹 Ensuring all window installations meet current manufacturer specifications

We look forward to delivering a high-quality finish and enhancing the building’s performance and appearance using our expertise.

Contract Announcement: Brompton Road, Knightsbridge 👷

We’re pleased to announce the commencement of our latest project on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, adjacent to the iconic Harrods.

The works involve the er****on of a scaffold on the pavement and the delivery of lead, slate tiling, and flat roofing works to replace the existing roof coverings.

Given the location on one of London’s busiest and most high-profile streets, temporary works present a key challenge. Scaffold access is required over active retail units, on a red route and next to a bus stop, demanding meticulous planning and coordination.

Success on this project is driven by clear communication with all stakeholders, including the client, our roofing teams and neighbouring retailers. This is underpinned by detailed and well-considered temporary works design, ensuring clarity and alignment from the outset.

Our focus is to deliver a safe, compliant, and well-presented scaffold installation, complete with hoarding and temporary lighting, enabling efficient access for high-quality roofing works that will stand the test of time.
