A family run business founded in 1977 Cumberland Construction was established by its present Managing Director Mr Dave Park. Specialising in Retail and interior refurbishments, the company is highly respected in the industry and our client retention rate speaks for itself. We are still approved contractors for William Hill bookmakers who were in fact our first client in 1977. Our reputation for quality has been achieved through our ability to manage and deliver a product in the efficient and cost effective way within the ever changing constraints of the retail & interior contractor industry, whilst always maintaining the service level factors critical to our clients and being sensitive and perceptive to their vision of the project. The vast majority of our works carried out in live environments, which means we have to be sympathetic to the environment in which we are working and understand the needs our clients their staff and their customers. Running parallel to this commitment to specific customer care issues, it is our policy to embrace and develop highly skilled professional craft persons. Indeed we are aware that our continued success will be enhanced by our management philosophy based upon co-operation and proactive working throughout all layers of our business. A closer look at one of the bespoke pieces designed and produced for the new Kiehl's Since 1851 UK & IRE store on Carnaby Street.

Detailed panelling, integrated shelving and individually manufactured lettering come together to create one finished piece, with every element developed specifically for the space.

From design development and programming through to CNC, assembly and finishing, the process was managed in-house to keep close control over every detail.

Our workshop is where the detail behind a project starts to take shape.

Joinery Production Manager, Michael King takes us through the process. From initial CAD drawings and technical development, through CAM programming and CNC machining, to full assembly and finishing.

With design and manufacture managed in-house, we can maintain close control over the detail, quality and coordination of each piece of bespoke joinery throughout the process.

Before anything leaves the workshop, clients also have the opportunity to visit, review and test the finished joinery before it is delivered to site.

It’s a considered process, designed to make sure what arrives on site is ready to install and meets the requirements of the project.

Carnaby Street is now open.

It was a pleasure to be involved in this new flagship store, delivering the furniture package across two floors.

From the initial concept through to technical development and manufacture, our team worked closely with Kiehl’s architectural teams in New York and Paris to bring the design to life.

With hardwood timber, patinated brass, brick slips, specialist metalwork, feature lighting and bespoke details throughout, there’s plenty to discover.

A great project for the team to see come together.

Behind the scenes at .lab.london first London flagship store. 📍Soho

Ahead of the official opening, Cumberland Group’s Site Manager for the project, Darren O’Rourke, took us around the space to share a look at the project taking shape and some of the work happening behind the scenes.

Born in Melbourne, .cc is a performance cycling brand known for combining technical performance with considered design, and Soho marks an exciting new chapter for the brand in London.

Appointed directly by MAAP, Cumberland Group delivered the project on a full Design & Build basis, taking the space from initial instruction through planning, technical design, procurement and construction to final handover, all within a 16-week programme.

Throughout the project, our UK team worked closely with Clare Cousins and the architectural design practice in Australia, alongside the wider Australian MAAP team. Close communication and coordination across both sides of the world ensured every element was carefully considered and the design vision carried through to delivery.

Congratulations to MAAP and everyone involved in delivering this fantastic new space.

A fresh new look for Nando’s Hammersmith.

Cumberland recently completed the full refurbishment of this Nando's UK & Ireland location in Hammersmith, London.

Working to MorenoMasey design, the team delivered the full fit-out, alongside the design and manufacture of selected bespoke joinery elements.

A fantastic transformation, with bold finishes, craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout.
