Another fantastic finished project completed in Bodmin ✅

Following a leak from the toilet, we carried out a full bathroom renovation, transforming the space from start to finish.

Receiving feedback like this makes all the hard work worthwhile and is exactly why we take pride in what we do — it’s what we do best 👏

“My mother has asked me to drop you a line to thank you so much for organising the repairs to her bathroom, and for the incredible work Gary did on her bathroom renovation following the leak. We are so pleased with the final result, especially the flooring which is now a lot brighter, level and flat.

We really appreciated Gary's professionalism, attention to detail, and for keeping everything clean and tidy throughout the process. He took pride in his work and it really shows in the finished job.

A huge well done to Gary for delivering another quality finish for our customer ⭐

The Lasting Impact of Devon & Cornwall's Winter Storms

With summer now arriving across the South West, many of us are enjoying the warmer weather. However, for property owners across Devon and Cornwall, the effects of this winter's storms are still being felt.

The storms brought some of the most challenging weather conditions the region has experienced in recent years, resulting in widespread damage to residential and commercial properties. From missing roof coverings and damaged chimneys to water ingress, internal flooding, fallen trees, boundary failures, and structural movement, the scale of damage was significant.

In many cases, what initially appeared to be minor storm damage has since developed into more serious issues. Undetected roof damage, compromised building fabric, and prolonged moisture exposure have led to ongoing repair works months after the storms passed.

Across Devon and Cornwall, contractors, surveyors, insurers, loss adjusters, and restoration specialists have been working through a substantial volume of claims and remedial projects. While emergency repairs addressed the immediate risks, many property owners are still navigating the process of reinstatement and recovery.

These events serve as an important reminder that regular property inspections and proactive maintenance remain essential. Small defects can quickly become major problems when exposed to extreme weather, particularly in coastal and high-exposure locations.

As we move into the summer months, now is an ideal time for property owners to assess any damage that may have gone unnoticed during the winter and ensure their buildings are prepared for whatever the next season brings.

At DNH Construction, we pride ourselves on delivering not just quality workmanship, but a service that genuinely makes a difference to our customers’ lives.

Receiving feedback like this is a great reminder of what our work is really about.

🌪️ Storm Damage? It’s What We Do Best 🌪️

Another successful project completed following severe weather damage — this time a large fallen tree impacting a beautiful 200-year-old barn conversion.

Storm-related incidents like this are unfortunately becoming more common. High winds and saturated ground can cause even healthy trees to fall, often leading to significant structural damage to roofs, walls, and surrounding areas. In many cases, the priority is making the property safe and watertight as quickly as possible, followed by carefully planned reinstatement works to restore the building to its original condition — especially important with older or character properties.

This is exactly where we come in — rapid response, making safe, and high-quality reinstatement… it’s what we do best.

On this project, our team acted quickly to assess the damage, coordinate safe removal of the tree, and carry out temporary repairs before completing a full restoration — ensuring the finished result blended seamlessly with the original structure.

⭐ Customer Feedback:

"We would give DNH Construction a 5-star rating for the manner in which they came to repair our 200-year-old barn conversion which had been struck by a very large falling tree during one of the recent gales.

The assessor came out very promptly to assess the damage and authorised the removal of the tree. The construction workmen again quickly came down to do a temporary repair and make the property watertight and later, at an appropriate time to both ourselves and their work schedule, they completed the repair, matching old tiles to our existing roof tiles so that you would never know there had been any damage.

An excellent job, well carried out!"

Great work by the team from first response through to final finish 👏

🔥 Plymouth Fire Job Finished 🔥

After attending this property in October following a devastating fire, we’re proud to say the project is now fully completed and signed off by the customer. 🔥➡️🏡

What started as a severely fire-damaged property has now been transformed into a fully restored home. The scope of works included:

• Complete new roof
• New kitchen and bathroom
• Plastering throughout
• Extensive joinery works
• New doors and windows installed

The transformation has been incredible, but most importantly the client is absolutely over the moon with the finished result. 👍

A big shout out to Mick Harvey who has managed this project from day one right through to completion. He has kept all parties informed throughout and ensured the job ran smoothly from start to finish. The final result is a real testament to his work and the wider DNH team who helped deliver the project. 👏

Working within the insurance sector, we regularly deal with properties at some of their worst moments. Fire losses like this require careful planning, strong communication, and a skilled team to bring everything back together again.

Restoring homes after major incidents is what we do best. 💪

Fire damage on this scale is never easy to see. 🔥

These photos are from a significant large loss in Totnes, where extensive damage has left the property requiring a full strip out ahead of a detailed tender package being prepared.

In the insurance world, we see the full spectrum of claims — from minor decorating works in a single room to major structural losses like this. No matter the size or complexity, our approach remains the same: treat every job equally, act quickly , and handle every property with care and respect.

On this project, we’ve been instructed by insurers to move swiftly and strip the building back to a safe, clean shell. Early intervention is key — securing the structure, enabling full assessment, and helping drive the claim forward without unnecessary delay. 🏗️

Large loss projects demand clear coordination, practical thinking, and experience on site. It’s what we do best. 💪

We hope this isn’t the last time we see this one — but only time will tell.

📍 Project Complete | Truro

It’s always a pleasure to work in such beautiful properties, and this Truro project was a great example of quality reinstatement done right.

Following an escape of water, the entire open-plan area of the home was significantly affected. The space required a full strip-out before being carefully rebuilt and finished to a high standard.

Our works included:
✔️ Full strip-back and reinstatement
✔️ New engineered flooring throughout
✔️ Complete redecoration
✔️ Seamless coordination of all trades from start to finish

The result? A fully restored home and a very happy policyholder, pleased with the workmanship and professionalism of every trade involved.

Delivering high-quality reinstatement with care, attention to detail, and consistency across trades — it’s what we do best.

Feedback Friday 👏

This week’s Feedback Friday comes from a challenging escape of water originating from a loft water tank, which unfortunately caused damage throughout the property.

The works required were extensive and included:

Plastering throughout

New flooring across the property

A full bathroom fit

Complete redecoration

Here’s what the customer had to say:

*“Tom was outstandingly fabulous. He made suggestions on floor layout that worked far better than my original choice. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone — clean, tidy, polite, punctual, and great communication.

The painter/decorator and carpenter were just as outstanding in their professionalism.

I hope not to need building work again, but if I did, your company would be who I’d call.”*

Insurance-related water leaks can be stressful, disruptive, and time-critical. Our role is to take that pressure away — coordinating trades, managing the works, and restoring homes back to their pre-loss condition as smoothly as possible.

It’s great to see our team’s professionalism and attention to detail recognised once again.

It’s what we do best.
