BRE365 Testing Complete | Cambridge 📍

Another successful BRE365 infiltration test and water table assessment completed by the Ground Force Group team on a project in Cambridge.

This site presented particularly slow infiltration rates, meaning the testing had to be carried out over three consecutive days to obtain a full set of compliant results.

Under BRE Digest 365, a minimum of three valid infiltration tests are required to accurately assess the infiltration characteristics of the ground and determine whether soakaway drainage is suitable. Where infiltration is slow, sufficient time must be allowed for each test to complete before the next can begin, ensuring the results are representative and compliant with the guidance.

Ground Force Group recently completed BRE365 infiltration testing for a replacement dwelling to support the soakaway design and wider surface water drainage strategy. Previous testing had been undertaken by another firm; however, the test was not carried out correctly and was not compliant with BRE365.

As a result, we were instructed to return to site and complete a fully compliant BRE365 test and report. Our team carried out the works strictly in accordance with BRE365, successfully recording infiltration rates on three occasions and providing the critical site data required to progress the on-site surface water design with confidence.
