Chimney number 37 completed in Tavistock this week, with a traditional Tyrolean finish.

The existing render was solid, so there was no need to unnecessarily hack the chimney back to brick.

The chimney was fully prepared and red gritted before receiving a dub coat, float coat and Tyrolean finishing coat.

We also fitted new bead work, carried out slate repairs, maintained the leadwork, formed new flaunching, fitted a new chimney pot and fitted a new pepper pot cowl.

This chimney had developed multiple cracks throughout the existing render, allowing water to pe*****te. Although the existing render was still solid, the cracks meant it was no longer keeping the chimney weatherproof. We prepared the existing surface, applied a red grit bonding primer and completed a fresh render finish.
