Got to love mk4 fenn traps in a loft to control rats, have so much better catch rate than a normal rat trap or black cat trap.

A non return valve fitted for a customer today after a riddance program, rats was gaining entry into the loft space by gnawing through the soil pipe.

23/09/2026

A drain inspection carried out today for a customer who has been getting rats in their loft above the extension, they previously had a drain inspection but no reports of ingress points, I was 95% sure it was a drain issue, 1.8m into the drain under the extension and there was a large hole with had been gnawed by rats, a non return valve will be fitted to prevent further ingress before the customer can get the pipe lined.

A drain inspection today carried out due to customer have issues with rats in the kitchen, insurance company had sent out an engineer to clear drains and inspect the main line but no defects found, right at the bottom of the chamber this is a old clay pipe, camera installed and straight away gravel/debris could been seen, slightly further up 2 dead rats noted, this is a old redundant drain that the kitchen sink used to be connected to until the extension was built.
Also gaps around the pipes noted which will be proofed at a later date
