🧱 Another structural repair completed by Miles Brickwork.
This garage had suffered from structural movement, resulting in cracking and weakened masonry. We installed a Helibar reinforcement system to stitch and strengthen the affected brickwork, helping to restore stability and provide a long-lasting repair.

The Helibar system was then carefully repointed over using Blue Circle mortar supplied by the customer, leaving a neat and durable finish to complete the repair.

Over the last few days we have been back to visit a project we was lucky to be apart of.

This is where we repointed a lot of the brickwork on site and carried out many repairs and replacements , have to say the repointing looks very good. Happy to be part of such a big project.

We finally unwrapped this one which has been covered in hessian for the last few weeks to protect it from the harsh heat and sun we have had over the last few weeks but it was definitely worth the wait.

We raked and repointed this 1900’s property in Peterborough we also put some helibar / helical stainless steel bars in to give it some strength again as a previous bricklayer had been and fitted a new lintel over the door opening but by doing that he had loosened the brickwork above , so while we raked out and repointed the rest we cut back where the cracks where to a depth of 40-50 mm and installed some helibars.

All repointing was replaced with NHL 3.5 lime raked out to a depth of 25-30mm.

Out with the Old and In with the new.

Today we removed an old air conditioner unit which was un- used for some time and the customer wanted to block it off so we took out the old frame work and replaced it with some blocks on the inside skin of the property we also added some extra damp proof course in to eliminate any damp trying to rise up and into the property from the outside. We then toothed out the brickwork of the outside and bricked that back up.

This fireplace had suffered from failed pointing, with mortar falling away from the joints. We carefully raked out all the loose material and repointed the brickwork using lime mortar with a flush finish, maintaining the character of the fireplace while restoring its strength.

We also repointed the hearth stones to complete the repair.

Stone restoration project recently completed by Miles Brickwork with a helping hand from Northcott stone works.

This 1700s stone property had all existing cementitious pointing carefully removed and replaced with a breathable lime mortar, more suitable for the age and construction of the building.

We also carried out selective stone replacements where required, helping to preserve the character and integrity of the property while ensuring a long-lasting finish.

A great project to be involved in and another building restored using traditional materials and methods.
