Wooden House, Trebetherick, designed by KAST Architects | Cornwall & South West Architecture
Joinery throughout the house was made to order by our team and fitted as one continuous project: kitchen, utility, boot room, entrance lobby, office, media unit, stairway and stair cladding, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a dressing room.
The doors are 22mm crown cut European oak veneer with a 5mm edging, book matched so the grain flows from one door to the next. Veneering lets a single oak log cover many times the surface that sawn boards would, making far better use of the timber, and gives a stable door that holds its shape through the seasons. Everything is finished in a low VOC water based lacquer at a 3% matt sheen, consistent from the kitchen to the last wardrobe upstairs.
Inside, every drawer is a dovetailed oak box rated to 40kg or 70kg, hung on Blum Clip top Blumotion soft close hinges in onyx, with lots of different handle profiles and panelling.
