I made friends with a inflatable flamingo…
And it helped me land support from Daniel Priestley.
Weird?
Maybe.
But it worked.

The Flamingo also got me a lot of attention at the West-country business show

Here’s what’s helped me and my business the most in the last 3 months:

👉 I stopped trying to copy anyone else
👉 I started showing up as me
👉 I proudly wore my brand on everything, hoodies, mugs, even at events
And much to my surprise locally in Devon Groberri Ltd is getting recognized.


There are now over 200 Groberri mugs out in the world.
(yes i know the video says 100 but a business show happened since filming this)

Plus my top top top tip for anyone who goes to networking events...
Take your own branded mug !
Trust me it starts conversations plus you get a decent sized drink.

Every time someone picks one up, they remember what we stand for.
And Florence the flamingo?

She sparks conversations, brings in laughs and sometimes, serious opportunities.
This isn’t about gimmicks.

It’s about being consistent, visible, and unapologetically you.

Last Friday I attended West Country Business Show but i didn't go alone
I took my secret weapon... and it wasn't Florence it was.....

My wife Dawn Triffitt

Dawn knows my business better than everyone else because she helped shape it

In the background
Listening to my crazy ideas
Listening to my frustrations
Picking me up when i'm ready to quit
Guiding me when i need guiding
and being that excellent sounding board

Florence the flamingo would not have featured as much in the Groberri brand if it wasn't for Dawn.

Last Friday at the expo Dawn sold me to people better than i ever could.

This post is a simple public thank you
Because you can't (well i can't) build a business by myself
Having that support is priceless.

Ever seen a grey flamingo?
They exist.
But only when they’re young and haven’t consumed enough shrimp and algae to turn pink.
That’s right — flamingos are only pink because of what they eat.
(can you tell i used to work at a Zoo)

So here’s the question:
As a leader…
What are you feeding on?

Because the podcasts, books, conversations, and training you absorb
shape how you show up for your team.

Leaders don’t become ‘pink’ by accident.
They consume intentionally.

This isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being hungry.

So what’s been fueling you lately?

I'm been watching a lot of content ready to get stuck into his accelerator program and make a dent.

Standing out like a flamingo in flock of pigeons! 🦩

We had great fun on Friday at the
Had so many great conversations
and Florence the flamingo had an even better time.

I heard Devon Women in Business had a great time with Florence whilst i was away from the stand Louise Jenners video was amazing !

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that came to our stand to support me
It genuinely means a lot.

I was blown away by how many people like the Groberri branding
and how many people wanted the infamous Groberri Ltd mug

It was really good to catch up with Brad 🔆🦁 Burton and listening to his talk was really inspiring, if you've never heard him talk you should !

Hows your social battery doing as we head into summer holidays?
Or what about your mental or physical batteries?

Why do so many of us not check on how charged our batteries are?

I bet you you are like me and check to see how much battery charge
You have on your phone, Laptop, smart watch etc

But when it comes to our own energy
Our mental, physical, or social batteries
We let them run right down.

We ignore the warning signs.
We push through the exhaustion.
We tell ourselves, "I'll rest after this week."
Then we crash.
And are pretty useless for a day or so.

How do you keep an eye on your battery levels?
And what’s your go-to quick recharge?
Let’s swap ideas. Might help someone else too.

Flamingos don’t burn out. ( well i don't think they do)
What they do it, they take turns guarding the nest.

One steps back.
Another steps up.
They protect what matters together.

Great leaders should do the same.
You don’t have to do it all.
In fact, if you do..
You’re robbing someone else of the chance to grow.

And if people are not given the change to grow
Guess what???
They end up leaving the business
People want to a bit of "stretch" in the roles
and not be bored.

So this week:
Who on your team could take something off your plate?
Not just to lighten your load…

But to give them a bit more purpose.
A bit more trust.
A bit more responsibility.

Have the conversation.
Let someone step up.

My guess is they have been waiting for this opportunity
And you will think to your self why didn't i do this earlier
