Solar panels are built to last 25 years, but there's one problem that catches a lot of homeowners out.
Pigeons love the space underneath panels. It's sheltered, it's warm, and once they move in, it causes real issues:

6.9kW solar PV and Tesla Powerwall installation completed in Orpington...

Our team completed this domestic installation on Hurstlands Drive, Orpington, fitting 15 x 460W Anglo Solar panels alongside a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery storage system.

The system is projected to generate approximately 6,964kWh of electricity per year, with an estimated annual saving of £1,732 based on the system proposal.

Solar panels aren't the only way to cut your electricity bill.

If you're on an overnight tariff, power can cost a third of the daytime rate for a few hours each night. A 10kWh battery (about 9kWh usable) lets you fill up while it's cheap, then run the house off that instead of paying peak rates the next day.

“Does my roof need to face south for solar panels?”

We get asked this one a lot, and the answer is no.

South-facing is ideal, but an east-west roof works really well too.

Panels facing east start producing earlier in the morning as the sun comes up. Panels facing west then pick up the sunlight later in the day and into the evening.

That means an east-west setup spreads your solar generation across the day, rather than concentrating it around the middle of the day.

So if you’ve ruled out solar because your roof doesn’t face south, it’s worth getting it checked. You might have a very good roof for it.

Have you considered your garage roof as a place for solar panels?
We recently completed a solar and battery installation in Orpington using the homeowner’s garage roof.

Another solar and battery installation completed in Orpington ☀️🔋

For this home on Bramerton Road, our team installed 10 Anglo Solar 460W panels on a Van Der Valk flat roof mounting system, paired with a Tesla Powerwall 3 and Tesla backup equipment.

The 4.5kW solar system is estimated to generate 4,447kWh of electricity each year.

Solar panels, battery storage, or both. What works best for you?

It depends on how you use your energy and what you want to achieve.

Solar panels on their own
A strong investment. You generate your own electricity during the day and use it in your home, reducing what you buy from the grid.

Battery on its own
You charge overnight on a lower rate, often around 7p per unit, then use that stored energy during the day when rates are closer to 28p per unit. This helps you control when you buy electricity.

Solar panels and battery together
This gives you the highest level of savings. You store your own solar energy and use it when you need it, while still taking advantage of lower overnight rates.

If your budget allows, combining both gives you the most control over your energy costs.
