Day #2 of Indie Week!

What does Just A Card mean to you?

As a small one woman business in a VERY giant sea......everything!

I set up Room In The Roof after recovering from severe postnatal depression and then staying home for caring responsibilities. However I also wanted to help to support my family.

Whatever the stories behind each of us, Just A Card has been essential for showcasing the talent and skills of independent artists, makers, shops and galleries everywhere, helping us to shout loudly about what we do! ❤️❤️

We may not be able to churn out products at speed like the big guns, but I can assure you that we more than make up for it with individualised service, care, courtesy, passion, and a huge smile!

Well hello!! 👋❤️

It's of Indie Week (and the 10th anniversary this too!), which aims to highlight the phenomenal contribution of independent shops, galleries, artisans and makers everywhere.

Today's prompt is.....10 Facts about yourself.
So, let's go!

1) I'm Elaine, and I live with my husband, 2 children and cat in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire, UK.

2) I've enjoyed crafting for over 20 years, but started Room In The Roof in 2018, after having my children.

3) I'm a carer for both children, who have additional needs. I've just returned back to Instagram after a nearly 18 month hiatus for this reason, and I've really missed you all! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

4) In another age, I was a qualified nurse, specialising in Surgery and Palliative Care for 13 years. I've worked with people all over the NW, both in hospital and community settings. I also mentored nursing students, which i loved.

5) When I'm not arting or caring, I volunteer for 2 part days at my children's former school, in the library, which is brill! However, I probably hinder the librarian more than I help! 🤣🤣

6) I love music of all kinds, from classical to heavy metal! 🤘

7) I've been Type 1 diabetic for nearly 44 years.

8) I love this cold, Hygge time of the year, in the build-up to Christmas! Walks, candles, blankets, books, hot drinks and the odd cold pinot grigio (or two!) 😉🤭

9) I have an evil (stupid) sense of humour and a bit of a potty mouth.

10) I love natural rocks and crystals!
...and I love to shop small where/when I can!

Well, this is my first finished mixed media piece in over a year! I'm sorry that it's taken so long after the hiatus.
I hope everybody is doing really well 💜💜
There are a lot of whizzy buttons and add ons to get used to on Instagram!! 🤣
Made with a mixture of media, stencils and stamps, using the masking technique. Stamps are by , , and the stencil is by .
It really has been a joyous expeeience to create, and i look forward to doing more very soon!

Well, it's been a long time, but we're back on the road at at the Old Police Station, Lark Lane, L17 8UU with lots of fantastic makers!
We're here until 4pm today! Come and see us!

Have just come back from a beautiful and peaceful glamping break near nature in Wales. Took in lots of road trips and met wonderful places and people alike at Llanfyllin, Lake Vernwy, Powys Castle, and through Welshpool... as well as all of the surrounding countryside.
Found my favourite place to sit under the stars, next to the lavender!
Thank you to , The Old New Inn and The Coco Bar for a memorable experience and so much more! Really missing it....🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥰

Getting back to work again after a period of being ill with a virus, and some general busyness around the home. Nothing urgent, just life!! I've still been looking in and admiring everybody's beautiful new work whenever I could though!!! 🥰🥰
Pleased to say that I'll be taking part again at Sub Rosa with .lvp on 30 June, 1-5pm!
This beauty, featuring an amazing stamp by Studio Light, is one of the new cards that will be coming with me.
Excited!
