We completed a safeguarding project at a primary school for Bedford Borough Council, installing new fencing, gates and Paxton access control to improve security around the school grounds.

The works included fencing around the playing field and main entrance, a cantilever swing gate for the car park and two pedestrian gates.

The improvements create clearer boundaries and give the school greater control over who can access the site, helping to support a safer environment for pupils and staff.

Our team recently completed the installation of Marshalls bollards across a busy public plaza at a University in the South East England.

As the area is regularly used for events, the works needed to be carefully managed while keeping the plaza as accessible as possible.

The team worked in sections, using fencing, signage and diversion routes to keep pedestrians moving safely around the work areas.

There were a few challenges along the way, including delivery delays, an event taking place on site and temperatures reaching around 35°C.

However, the works were completed on time, to budget and high quality standards improving security across the plaza while allowing the space to remain in use throughout.

Ever wondered why va**ng can set off a smoke alarm?

It might seem surprising, but the aerosol produced by v**es can contain particles large enough to trigger both ionisation and photoelectric smoke alarms, particularly when there’s a dense cloud or poor ventilation.

This can lead to false alarms and disruption, particularly in places like schools, workplaces and public buildings.

There is a solution. Dedicated v**e detectors are designed to detect va**ng more accurately, helping to reduce false alarms while also alerting you when va**ng takes place in restricted areas.

We recently completed Phase 2 works at a local school, improving security around the sports field and changing areas.

The project involved replacing manual gate systems with automated gates, as well as improving security around off-street areas where people could potentially access the school grounds.

Working on a live school site always takes a bit more planning. The school was still open while we carried out the works, so we had to make sure everything was properly secured and managed around pupils and large groups using the site.

Once the summer holidays started, there were still school clubs taking place, so we had to work around those too.

The new systems are now in place, giving the school improved security while keeping disruption to pupils and staff to a minimum.

CCTV, access control and intruder alarms can all do their job individually.

But when they’re connected, they can work together to respond to an incident much faster.

For example, if a door is forced open, your access control system can trigger CCTV, alert your security team and activate the alarm automatically.

That means faster responses, fewer gaps and a clearer picture of what’s happening.

We’re currently working on the installation of hostile vehicle mitigation bollards at a UK university.

The bollards are designed to stop vehicles weighing up to 7.5 tonnes travelling at 50mph, providing a strong layer of protection around the site.

We were brought in to improve the perimeter security at a local primary school, and there was a fair bit to tackle.

The existing fencing was outdated, with overgrown trees and vegetation affecting visibility and access around the site.

We cleared the old fencing and vegetation before installing the new perimeter fencing, access-controlled gates and pedestrian gates.

We also found that the existing waste access was too narrow, so we widened the route and added new double gates to make sure the school could still manage waste collection easily.

With everything taking place during the summer holidays, we had a tight window to get the work finished before the new term.

We are pleased to report, everything was completed on time and the school now has a safer, more secure and practical perimeter.
