Nice job today in Oban in the sunshine reducing a row of beech trees. They had been skelped about ten years ago but we did our best to return them to a reasonably natural shape

Finally getting round to posting some photos from a beech dismantle we did a few weeks back. We did a reduction on this tree a few years ago and installed a tree bracing system hoping that this would maintain the tree for many more years. Unfortunately Storm Amy had other ideas and one of the main scaffold limbs burst out, but thankfully the bracing did it's job and no damage was caused. Really challenging job and we rigged down some massive pieces (around 1000kg I reckon)
A real shame to lose such a magnificent tree but it was too far gone and had to come out. At least the client decided to keep it as a monolith so it is still providing vital habitat for the area.

We’ve recently been working on a large cliff face rhododendron clearance project in Acharacle. Tough work but we’ve had great weather for it, and the views are nice too!

We had a right mess to clear up for Glencoe youth hostel last week. Two big clumps of conifers toppled over in the winter storms needing cleared and their root plates brought back over. Our Forst TR8 and winch definitely earning its keep on this one. Don’t know what we ever did without it!
