Thank you to Shipley Community Garden for letting me come and practice my this morning! Much trickier on uneven ground with lots of sedges to battle through and hummocks to get stuck in but I’m quite pleased with how my technique is progressing!!

Some wonderful new editions from David Austin Roses yesterday, filled in the gaps in the rose garden at the front and then popped some in the end of our work in progress boarder. Everything has gone mad with the rains and now the Dahlias have finally started to come into their own and very glad I dead headed before I went on holiday as most things are putting on a new flush of flowers! Put in a few varieties of Dahlias but the ‘Honkas’ seem to have taken the best and I adore their celestial flowers.

Lovely day today scything this meadow in progress! After doing a scythe course with Steve Tomlin a couple of weeks ago I’ve been itching to have a go and I think I’m starting to get the hang of it! Pleased to see so much of the yellow rattle has worked and dropped for next year! Going to harrow the thatch where the yellow rattle has done its job and then add some more wildflowers for next year!

Nice crown reduction this morning on this gorgeous magnolia! Brought it back down to scale with the rest of the garden and most importantly let the light back into the kitchen!!

Nice to be back on the tools and doing one of my favourite things! Creating a new border at my clients to keep the local canine population from using it as a bathroom! Moved around some plants that were in the wrong places as well as spreading out a lot of divisions we have taken from elsewhere in the garden. Asters, achillea, hemerocalis and helleanthus.

Plants are settling in very well after this wet week we’ve been having! All nicely wood chipped and deadheaded so hopefully we can get one last flush of summer flowers!

Long border looking cracking down in Wollaton! Loving the textures and the tones in this one, feels so inviting to me, I just have the desire just to get in there and run my hands through everything. Cooler colours on either end above the deep greens switch to vivid reds, purples and pinks above more glaucous foliage in the centre. Just got the bulbs to put in now when they come in October!

Bit bedraggled after this afternoon’s downpour but this new planting looking lovely and verdant. Some requests from the clients on plants they enjoyed in their old garden, you may not be able to take old established things with you but you can buy new ones!! Loving this Bistorta Affinis ‘Darjeeling red’ which I think will tie together the Philadelphus and the Buddleja quite nicely. Gorgeous red orange centres on this bicolour which has inspired the colour palate on the rest of the flowers. Wood chips and a mass of daffodils still to come!

Incredibly proud of this little garden transformation down in Long Eaton. Created this beautiful woodland clearing underneath the dappled shade of the weeping Birch. Gorgeous selection of perennials from Sulney Nursery, beautiful flowers, elegant grasses and fantastically tactile ferns complement our natives. Good to see the Rivers edge mix from Meadowmania | Wildflowers Uk already starting to sprout around the pond!! Keeping everything contained with EverEdge, love how the brown just melts in. Thanks again to Ben from Guidance and Growth C.I.C. for all the help with the bench, it looks beautiful in the dappled light. Proper full circle moment for me this garden as I drove past my old bus stop my mate would drop me off at on my way home from college.
