First attempt at a painted secret door with a book latch mechanism definitely a bit of a head-scratcher, but got there in the end! 🔨 The customer wanted it to feel original to the property, so I matched the detailing to the existing fireplace, keeping everything in keeping with the character of the house. Made from MDF and finished ready for paint. Really chuffed with the result — can’t wait for the next one! 💪🔨

Another bespoke understairs shoe drawer cabinet manufactured and installed by Ironside Joinery.

Built with a shaker-style front and push-open catches to keep everything clean and handleless, creating a practical storage solution with easy access to all your footwear.

Really enjoyed making this one. Angled understairs projects always bring their own challenges, but the finished result makes the most of what would otherwise be wasted space.

General building work is all part of what we do here at Ironside Joinery too. 👌

Here’s a full roof restoration we’ve recently completed, transforming a leaking flat felt roof into a low-pitched cut roof, set at 13°, and finished with Marley Modern 12.5 tiles.

To keep maintenance to a minimum, we also fitted new white uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering, complete with leaf guards to help prevent blockages from the overhanging trees.

Really enjoyed getting stuck into something a bit different on this one. On to the next project. 💪

New Bespoke media wall completed by Ironside Joinery. Our customer came to us with an AI-generated image they absolutely loved, and it was our job to bring it to life. Seeing an idea on a screen transformed into a real, handcrafted piece is one of the best parts of what we do. We matched the design with classic shaker MDF doors, paired with warm European oak to bring a natural warmth and contrast to the room. The floating oak shelves and fireplace mantel are finished with discreet LED lighting underneath, giving a clean, modern look that really comes alive in the evening.We’ve now handed it over ready for decorating and the final second-fix electrics, and we can’t wait to see the finished result.

The Domino DF 500 Lock Tenon System is a great bit of kit. I’ve used it on a few projects now and it’s quick, simple, and really easy to use. It’s a fast fixing method with no visible fixings, giving a clean, professional finish every time.

It’s very similar to the Lamello Zeta P2 system, so if you already own a Domino DF 500, I’d definitely recommend giving the Lock Tenon System a go. It’s a cost-effective way of achieving hidden mechanical joints without investing in another machine.

Another wardrobe renovation completed by Ironside Joinery.

This project involved much more than just fitting a wardrobe. We removed the existing door and frame, blocked up the landing doorway with new studwork and plasterboard, then formed a new opening from the master bedroom into the unused void to create a bespoke built-in wardrobe.

Manufactured from moisture-resistant MDF, the wardrobe features handcrafted shaker doors fitted with soft-close concealed hinges for a clean, timeless finish.

A great project from start to finish, making use of wasted space and giving the customer a practical built-in storage solution that looks like it’s always been there.

A pleasure working for another great customer.

Another bespoke MR primed MDF alcove bookcase, manufactured and fitted by us.

With this one, the customer had seen a photo online and completely fell in love with the design. They asked if we could recreate it for their home, and it was a real pleasure bringing that inspiration to life and matching it as closely as possible.

To make sure the unit looked like it had always been part of the house, we matched the property’s original style by incorporating bespoke cornice and skirting details, keeping the character and period feel of the room.

There’s nothing better than taking an idea from a picture and turning it into a bespoke piece that’s made to fit the space perfectly.

A pleasure to create this for our customer—we hope they enjoy it for many years to come.

Another bespoke storage project completed. 🔨

Custom boiler housing with a built-in shoe cupboard, all made from moisture-resistant MDF, finished with matching softwood skirting to blend seamlessly with the original style of the house.

The shaker-style MR MDF doors feature a split centre rail and are fitted with soft-close concealed hinges for a clean, high-quality finish.

Inside, we’ve installed adjustable metal pin shelving to keep the storage practical and flexible.

Working around the existing boiler meant carefully allowing for the required ventilation, finished with a matt black vent cover to keep everything looking neat while maintaining airflow.

It’s been a pleasure working on this project from start to finish. Thanks to the clients for trusting us with another bespoke build.

Hallway panelling install completed 🔨

This one featured curved beading to follow the profile of the staircase, with all mouldings supplied by MR Mouldings. We used a flexi bead for the curved sections which made the job go together perfectly 👍

We kept to a 600mm panel layout up the stairs with a 100mm border to keep everything looking balanced and in proportion.

Customer was chuffed with the finished result, and so were we. All completed in just a day’s work, and really enjoyed working with the new flexi bead.
