Some projects keep you on your toes more than others, and this is definitely one of them!

This huge section of glazing spans around 15 metres and has proven to be one of the most complex elements BJC has encountered to date.

With a hidden frame design, brick soffits and detailed reveals, the installation demands an incredible level of precision before the glass even arrives on site.

The preparation involved has been extensive, and the value of the materials alone means there is very little room for error.

It’s one of those parts of a project where planning, sequencing and attention to detail really matter, and where all the work behind the scenes is just as important as the finished result.

A seriously impressive piece of design, and one of the most technically challenging installations we’ve taken on.

Another project showcase, and a glimpse at the scale and specification of this exceptional London transformation.

This bespoke residential sauna is just one element of a much wider project, where the ambition, investment and attention to detail are evident in every space.

Projects of this calibre come with significant budgets, but also the highest expectations. Every trade, finish, installation and stage of the programme has to be carefully managed and coordinated to ensure the result reflects that standard.

It’s a real privilege to be entrusted with the management of a project of this scale, working alongside an exceptional team in JD Build and Francasca Leat Interiors, to transform this London property into something truly special.

When your construction project could be one of the biggest investments of your life, can you afford to rely on guesswork?

Ben brings experience from working across many projects, including lessons learned from mistakes, difficult situations, and seeing what can happen when people don’t act professionally. He uses that experience to look beyond the quote and ask the questions that can protect your project.

He prefers to recommend contractors he knows and has worked with. When that isn’t possible, he meets new contractors in person and checks their insurances, financial standing, relevant experience, case studies, and credit reports before recommending them.

That independent oversight takes time, but it gives you someone in your corner, helping you make informed decisions and spot potential problems before they become expensive ones.

Created for a small person, but involving a very grown-up level of planning, detail, and ex*****on.

From the layout and finishes to the bespoke elements and final styling, every part of this room was carefully considered to make the space feel both beautiful and practical.

A lovely example of how thoughtful design can transform even the smallest spaces into something really special.

Progress continues at our Stoke Holy Cross project, with the next phase of structural works now approaching.

The steelwork is due to be installed to form the large ground-floor opening for the new L-shaped glazing. Once complete, the design will incorporate wrap-around bi-folding doors, creating a substantial glazed elevation, making the most of the views across the rear of the property.

BJC are providing cost consultancy services throughout the build, working closely with the client and wider project team to monitor costs, manage the budget and support informed decision-making as works progress.

A great scheme to be involved with, and one we’ll be sharing more about as the project develops.

What actually makes a great project manager?

People often think it’s just about keeping a programme updated or chasing deadlines, but it’s much more than that.

A good project manager is part planner, part problem solver, part communicator… and sometimes part firefighter too.

It starts with having a solid plan. Thinking ahead, understanding the detail and making sure there’s a clear roadmap from start to finish.

Then there’s the juggling act - managing trades, subcontractors, budgets, programmes, decisions and the inevitable curveballs that come with any project. Keeping all of those moving parts working together is a skill in itself.

A strong project manager also keeps the client’s goals front and centre. Every decision should be measured against the agreed brief, vision and outcome.

You also need a good head for numbers. Budgets don’t manage themselves, and keeping a close eye on costs is essential to making sure a project stays commercially on track.

Process matters too. Experience, structure and attention to detail are often what separate a smooth project from a stressful one.

And perhaps most importantly - communication. A great project manager knows how to work with people, build relationships, coordinate teams and keep everyone aligned and informed throughout the journey.

At its core, good project management is about bringing people, processes, budgets and delivery together to give a project the best possible chance of success.

There’s something particularly satisfying about seeing a project like this finished, because behind these images is all the planning, mess, disruption, and problem-solving that comes with delivering a major renovation.

This was a 2025 project where BJC provided a turnkey service for JD Build, working alongside on the design and delivery.

With a large period home like this, getting the balance right is key: protecting the original features and character that make the property special, while completely rethinking the layout to create a home that works for modern living.

It takes careful planning, coordination, and a great team around the project.

A fantastic design by , expertly delivered by JD Build.

And when the end result looks like this, all of the complication along the way feels completely worthwhile.

This month marks six years of BJC Construction Projects!

When Ben set up BJC in 2020, he had a clear vision for the kind of business he wanted to build; one shaped by the experience he had gained throughout his career, but with his own standards, values and approach at its heart.

Construction had already been a big part of Ben's life, from growing up around property development and working on site, to studying Construction Design and Management and gaining experience within London’s high-end residential sector.

Starting BJC meant building from the ground up - taking on our own projects, developing relationships, and gradually working towards the type of work and clients he had always aspired to.

But it hasn’t always been a straight path, and there have been challenging projects, long days and plenty of lessons along the way.

“The goal was always to build something I could be proud of, but what am I most proud of?... never giving up!"

Six years later, BJC is managing more than £10m of live projects, taking on increasingly ambitious schemes and continuing to grow its team and offering.

A huge thank you to every client, consultant, contractor and supplier who has been part of the journey.

Six years down, and plenty more still to build. 🥂

We’re pleased to be welcoming a new member of the team, who’ll be working alongside Ben to support the day-to-day logistical and administrative side of the business.

While much of what we do is very hands-on and physically happens on site, there’s a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep every project moving.

From cost consultancy, project management and contracts through to planning, quotations and procurement, plenty is happening before a project even reaches site. Once work is underway, it’s about keeping a close eye on costs, recording variations and changes, keeping documentation up to date and providing regular reports to clients and contractors.

Bringing additional support into the team will allow Ben to spend more time focusing on the continued growth of BJC, while still maintaining the hands-on involvement that sits at the heart of the business.

“As BJC continues to grow, I want to make sure we maintain the same level of involvement and attention to detail for every client. Growing the team gives me more capacity to focus on where we’re taking the business, while still being present on site and closely involved in our projects.” - Ben

We’ve been talking a lot about basements recently, mainly because they’re becoming a bigger part of the projects we’re working on at BJC.

In London especially, space is always a challenge. And when planning restrictions mean there’s only so much you can do to the façade of a period property or a home in a conservation area, sometimes the obvious place to look is down.

And basements have come a long way from simply being storage spaces. We’re seeing them used for cinema rooms, gyms, w**e cellars, offices, utility rooms and even entire additional living floors.

But of course, there’s plenty to consider behind the scenes too; structural design, party walls, waterproofing, drainage and movement monitoring all play their part, to name just a few.

That's where we come in.

When you can’t necessarily change what’s above ground, it’s interesting just how much opportunity there can be underneath it.
