Look at these cracking burdock roots (left) I pulled up today! To go with the dandelion on the right to try my first real D&B 😍

It's so cool to go from noticing an invasive w**d and thinking "oh I'd better pull that out before it becomes a big problem..." to thinking "I'll make a mental note of that and come back and get it when it's a bit bigger!" I'm thinking like a foraging gardener now. (And I've left some in place to get bigger!)

2 jars of dried cleavers ready to be bagged up for sale, and a jar of Comfrey leaf about to be made into comfrey oil to make myself a balm for my achy gardeners muscles 😊

Finally… an actual thing that looks like a PRODUCT 🥳🤩

When I first thought “I know, I’ll sell w**ds and things that grow by themselves,” it did not occur to me that I’d also have to design packaging, process the plants, weigh them, pack them, photograph them, and then figure out how on earth to sell them. Turns out it’s far more work than I imagined — but honestly, I’m having a great time with it.

So, here they are:

✨ Nettle Root – 50g for £6
✨ Powdered Eucalyptus – 70g in a glass jar with a matching spoon for £20

Postage is extra, but I’d love to keep things local if possible — you’re very welcome to pick up from me near Acton Bridge, Northwich.

Every plant I use is grown and harvested either from my own garden or a local garden, grown without pesticides, and processed by my own two hands. Small‑batch, slow, and very much made with love... and just a few nettle stings 😉

Today I am drying wild garlic from the garden, which stinks out the spare room 😁. Lots of foraging going on lately, drying and making stock for the apothecary. If you are in need of anything in particular, grown I'm my Northwich garden or foraged nearby, let me know.

Currently have whole dried leaves of purple dead nettle, bitter cress, chickw**d, teasel, eucalyptus. Dried chopped root of teasel, dandelion, marshmallow and inula, and these nettle roots (pictured) I dug up today. Also have lots of dried whole turkey tail mushrooms and collecting some cherry plum blossom.

A basket I made in the autumn from a scrappy goat willow that grows over our fence. Also known as p***y willow, it a pretty agressive w**d of a tree, but it weaves nicely when freshly cut, drying to a rough brown finish. Not as pretty as other willows but its sturdy when dry.
I knocked this thing up in an hour in the garden out of boredom, not the tidiest but I decided it would make a nice foraging basket, with two seperate chambers for different plants or fruits. Did its first bit of work today, foraging chickw**d and purple dead nettle to dry for the apothecary 😁

I stumbled into herb growing by accident — one marshmallow plant showed me a whole new world, of people who use plants for medicine and magick. I realised many of the ‘w**ds’ I used to compost were valued by others, and that these plants could be put to other uses. This year I will be growing and drying UK herbs on a small scale: tended with reverence, pesticide free and sustainably harvested or foraged.

I’m not a herbalist; I’m a full time gardener with botanical & scientific training who grows plants well and shares them with those who can’t grow their own. I’m still learning about medicinal herbs, so I welcome voices local to Northwich, Cheshire, telling me what herbs they use, what they love, and what they’d like me to grow next. I currently have small amounts of dandelion and cinquefoil roots, chickw**d and red dead nettle, and quite a bit of teasel root and leaf available.
