MICK ALDRED 1949 - 2026
For those unaware, we are very sorry to let you know that Mick Aldred has sadly passed away after a period of ill health.
He is now reunited with his Dear wife, Sandy, whom he missed greatly and spoke of so fondly following her own passing.
Our thoughts are with Simon, Yvonne and their families at this very sad time.
Mick was one of the original members of the Fountain Construction family. He brought a wealth of knowledge, plenty of humour, and of course, many stories to tell!
He was a loyal worker and more importantly, a good friend to us all.
A highly skilled builder; Mick was someone Tom and the lads would often turn to for a second opinion - his experience and judgement were always greatly valued.
When Mick retired (hanging up his knee pads and braces!) , thankfully, that wasn't the end of his time with Fountain Construction. He continued to join the lads for the odd breakfast, do site visits to tell us how he would do things differently 🤣 and always had a place at the Christmas meal.
When we heard of Mick's ill health, members of the FC team visited him in hospital. Since his passing, the messages and contact we've received from past and present FC workers have made it very clear just how highly thought of he was.
Over the years, so many of our subcontractors and workers have made their mark on Fountain Construction and remained friends long after the job was finished, but Mick holds a particularly special place in all our hearts.
“Mick the Brick” — we'll miss you hugely.
