Best of luck to One Man and his Og for the final stretch of their epic Coast to Coast challenge to raise money for our local Parkinson's UK charity group.

The legends that are Stephen Hodgson (Oggy) and Andy Vickers started walking on Saturday 15th August by the waters at St Bees, and will finish this coming Saturday at Robin Hood's Bay - a total of 15 days of non-stop walking!

We are proud to have sponsored Stephen and Andy's (One Man and his Og ) trek across the country.

🌱Breaking ground on something special.

🚧 Work has officially begun on at the Golden Jubilee Regional Spinal Cord Injuries Centre, The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, part of University Hospitals Tees.

This will be the 9th Horatio’s Garden in the UK, designed in collaboration by EBBA and award-winning landscape designers Studio Pollyanna Landscape Design, winner of RHS medals at Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. 🌷🏆

Once complete, it will be a place of calm, connection and hope for patients, families and NHS staff across the region. 💚

Thank you to for appointing us as the contractor on this incredible project, we are so proud to be involved.

🏆 Outstanding achievement for the Middlesbrough Old Town Hall restoration team!

The project has just scored an impressive 95% following a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme visit, a fantastic reflection of the care, professionalism, and pride the team bring to site every day on this historic building.

The Grade II listed landmark is being carefully restored and transformed into a modern business destination at the heart of Middlehaven’s Boho Zone blending heritage character with a exciting new future.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved. Your hard work is helping shape the next chapter for one of Middlesbrough’s most iconic buildings. 👏🧱

20 Years of Service at Walter Thompson! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Andrew Sutherland on reaching an incredible 20 years as Contracts Manager at Walter Thompson!

Andrew’s consistency, leadership, attention to detail and pride in his work have made him a highly valued member of the Walter Thompson team throughout two decades of dedicated service.

To mark this fantastic milestone, Andrew was recently presented with a long-service gift by Managing Director Paul Hammerton.

Walter Thompson has returned to Willow Burn Hospice to complete a 10 week refurbishment job. In that time the team will look to reconfigure the hospice day centre and office spaces and improve accessibility throughout the building.

Included in the works will be fitting of air conditioning units, M&E works and general refurbishments to the area.

10 years ago, Walter Thompson completed the extensions to the hospice, so it is a pleasure to return and carry out work to the interior of the property.

June was a big month on site! Here’s what the team got done 👇

✅ Parapet dismantling complete (west, north & east elevations)
✅ 100% of the old roof structure removed
✅ Demolition underway on the north elevation wall
✅ Scaffolding up on the south elevation & Clock Tower
✅ Clock Tower render removal underway
✅ New extension steel frame installed
✅ Ground floor slab & drainage works started

We are proud to share that the Newark project team, working on the brand-new 70-bedroom care home for Crown Care Group has achieved an outstanding score of 95% following a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme visit! 🏆

The new scoring system, launched earlier this year, introduces a strengthened and modernised checklist and scoring model providing a clearer, more consistent framework for assessing responsible construction across the UK and Ireland.

This updated model replaces the former 27-question structure and adopts a percentage-based scoring system, ensuring equal weighting across all three assessment areas. The result is greater transparency, consistency, and comparability across construction sites of all types and sizes.

A huge well done to our fantastic team and everyone involved this is a brilliant achievement! 👏👏

Last week we welcomed students from Northallerton School to our Old Middlesbrough Town Hall and Atkinson Court sites for a week of work experience.

Our Site Managers, Bricklayers, and Joiners gave them a real taste of life on a construction site: from laying their first bricks to getting hands-on with joinery basics.

Thank you to our site teams for making it such a great experience. Who knows we might have a few future tradespeople in the making! 👷‍♀️👷

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week, and one of our joiners Charlie Lightfoot is doing something about it.

He's partnered with Empty Chairs an initiative that reserves a small table at a local pub, leaving a few chairs free for anyone who wants company. That's it. No agenda. No pressure. Just a seat and some warmth.

Loneliness touches all of us at some point. Empty Chairs is proof that small, human gestures can make a big difference.
