Back to School!

The summer holidays are nearly over and a little bit of routine is about to return! 🙌

While Carl and the team have been keeping TES running at full speed as usual, behind the scenes we have been attempting to juggle office work, family life, childcare and all the other plates that come with the school holidays!

With the children heading back to school on Monday, Gemma will be back in the office on her usual days and our normal routine can resume… although we're sure it won't stay quiet for long! ☕

Running a family business really is a family affair, and the school holidays certainly add another level to the juggling act. But amongst the juggling, we love every minute of having the flexibility to spend that extra time with our children and make some really special memories together. Those are the moments that make the chaos completely worth it!

Good luck to all the children heading back to school – and a little high five to all the parents who made it through the summer holidays! ✋

For James L, it's a day spent travelling across the county carrying out routine fire alarm testing.

Every Friday, James visits 7 different locations, testing the fire alarm systems in 12 different properties – making sure everything is working exactly as it should.

⚡ Did You Know? ⚡

Your consumer unit (often called a fuse board) is the heart of your home's electrical installation.

Modern consumer units are fitted with advanced safety devices such as RCDs, RCBOs and Surge Protection Devices (SPDs), which are designed to:

✅ Reduce the risk of electric shock
✅ Help prevent electrical fires
✅ Disconnect faulty circuits quickly
✅ Protect sensitive electrical equipment from transient overvoltages (where fitted)

If your consumer unit still has rewireable fuses or is more than 20 years old, it may not provide the same level of protection as a modern installation.

When was the last time your consumer unit was inspected?

If you're unsure, we'd be happy to carry out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and advise whether your installation meets current safety standards.

Electrical cables hidden within walls aren't run randomly.

There are specific "safe zones" where cables should be installed to reduce the risk of accidentally drilling into them.

Always check before drilling into walls!

⚡ Completed Works ⚡

We were recently contacted by a client after a fault had been identified on their external lighting circuit.

Following our assessment, it was found that the cable supplying the existing lights had deteriorated as it wasn't suitable for the environment it had been installed in. To ensure a safe and reliable installation, we acted quickly to rectify the issue.

Our solution included:
💡 Installing a brand-new external lighting circuit.
✨ Fitting modern LED outdoor lighting.
🔧 Ensuring the installation was safe, compliant, and built to last.

We understand how important external lighting is for both safety and security, so we were pleased to get this resolved promptly for our client.

This Wednesday, James, James and Carl will be heading back to the classroom to begin their Solar PV course with Focus Training Group, following on from successfully completing their Battery Storage Systems training.
