If you’re on our hedgecutting list, thank you for your patience. We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead, but we’ll be working our way through everyone over the next month or so and will get to you as soon as we can.

Thanks again for keeping us so busy!

Very proud moment for me today.

Three years ago I bought my first ever hedgecutter. It was a very basic machine, certainly not a contractor-spec machine.

Now it’s time for an upgrade — and that upgrade goes by the name of a Shelbourne Reynolds 6060T.

It really is ten times the machine in every respect, and a big step forward for me and the business.

Looking forward to many years of happy hedgecutting with this one. 🚜

Busy day spraying on a Saturday, Little and Large out working. Dereks Bateson was out spraying off the weeds in our 14.5 acre field that was drilled back in the spring and nothing came up through.

Little Self Propelled Sprayer was out in Oxfordshire helping a farm out with some last minute spraying they were desperate for.

The final jars harvested from this year's harvest 🐝 Very impressed with what they've done on a drought year considering they went into the hive in June and the flow super went on in late July. Yes we do sell our honey so if you book us in for hedgecutting this season I will be able to bring a jar of honey along with me. The jars are £6.50 🍯

Didn't expect to be baling in September, but here we are! 🚜

Wildflower cut and collection job underway in Buckinghamshire for a new customer, working across some seriously hilly ground.

A bit different from the usual baling, but a cracking job to be getting stuck into. 🌾

It's not just Trees, Hedges, Ditches & Fields George the owner of MA&E Maintains, he also maintains a healthy and welfare focused Bee Hive.

Tapped straight from the hive, no need for smoke or really ppe as the bees are so calm when harvesting. No need to split the hive apart and take frames out to harvest. Simply tap it straight out. No filtering or other man made extraction techniques.

Our honey is for sale in 190g jars £6.50/jar

McConnel PA5755-60 Hedgecutter – 2023 – £17,950 + VAT

For sale is my 2023 McConnel PA5755-60 Power Arm hedgecutter.

Good, honest machine that has been used as intended and is being advertised with everything I know about it. Both the Power Arm and flail head were built new in 2023, so the complete machine is the same age.

Specification / features:

- 2023 build
- McConnel PA5755-60
- 60HP hydraulic system
- McConnel Motion electronic controls
- Cable-operated rotor/head engagement
- Flail head also manufactured in 2023
- LED road lighting, including brake lights, DRLs and indicators – all working as they should
- All electronic arm functions working as they should
- Machine weighs approximately 1,052 kg

There are a couple of points worth mentioning so any buyer knows exactly what they're looking at.

The wiring loom has previously had a wiring repair, which can be seen in the photos. This has not stopped the machine working and all electronic functions currently operate as they should.

The cable engagement for the flail head is also working, although it will likely require a small amount of adjustment to get the rotor selecting both directions correctly. I believe the cable/adjustment has simply worked loose inside the lever housing in the cab rather than there being an issue with the head itself.

Other than that, it is a straight, honest 2023 machine with the usual marks you would expect from a working hedgecutter. I am not trying to dress it up as a brand-new machine, but equally there are no known major faults being hidden.

Selling purely due to replacing it with a heavier, more contractor-spec hedgecutter.

Plenty of photos available showing the machine, head, controls and ID plate.

Price: £17,950 + VAT

Back in the 14.5-acre Oxfordshire hay field today.

This field was ploughed, cultivated and drilled back in the spring at 18kg of grass seed per acre, but unfortunately, with the incredibly dry conditions this year, virtually none of it has germinated.

The hope is that the original seed is still sitting there waiting for the right conditions, and with some proper autumn moisture we should finally start to see it come through.

To give it every chance, once the existing vegetation has been dealt with, I'll also be going across with the spring tine harrow and broadcaster, putting on another 150kg of grass seed across the field — just over 10kg/acre.

Unfortunately, the field has become heavily contaminated with weeds. I personally don't like using sprays unless they're genuinely needed, but in this case there's little alternative. Over the next few weeks we'll spray the existing growth off with glyphosate, before harrowing and overseeding.

Then, once the new grass is established, we'll reassess it in the spring and, if required, use a selective herbicide to target the problem broadleaf weeds while leaving the grass sward intact.

Hopefully with some decent autumn rain we'll finally see this field turn the corner, get good establishment through the winter, and go into spring with a much stronger, cleaner grass crop. 🌱🚜
