My top five overland trips:
1) Skye, UK – Skye has my favourite UK mountain range the Cuillin. This 8-mile knife-edge ridge is a tough mountain outing often requiring an overnight bivvi and ropes.
2) Morocco – Travel through Spain and take the ferry to Morrocco. I loved exploring the towns, mountains and desert.
3) Israel – Taking the ferry from Greece to Israel gives time to relax. I loved the landscape and history and seeing all the biblical places I had heard about in school.
4) Dalsland, Sweden – A trip to Sweden’s ‘Lake District’ Dalsland provides an opportunity to explore the landscape by canoe. We hired ours for our week-long trip from Canodal in Ed.
5) Picos de Europa, Spain – Some of the finest mountains in Europe, the Picos stand well above the land around them. I loved the way the mountain huts and towns are fitted intricately to the vertical landscape.
