The cabinet was originally a Laura Ashley tv unit and thanks to who donated some material, we added a back and an additional shelf making it into a beautiful storage / display cabinet.

When the task requires zero cats so of course they both had to be involved 😻

This Facebook marketplace find has been a work in progress for literal years at this point, I removed the fabric lining inside which left lots of glue residue on the back panel that I couldn’t get off so I covered it with wallpaper. I should’ve used wallpaper paste but I didn’t have any and used what I had which was mod podge, it wasn’t the easiest thing to work with but it’s attached. The shelf was so thin and bowed it needed replacing, big thanks to for the new shelf!

Then the whole inside was primed with Zinsser 123, painted with Annie Sloan Athenian Black and sealed with Dead Flat Decorators Varnish. Outside parts haven’t been touched as the wood has some lovely aged marks.

As always I never take a good before photo so I’ve found a photo from the marketplace listing at the end to show where it started.

My cats were paid models for this photoshoot and are available for future bookings 😹

This Saturday 16th May between 10am - 1pm I will be doing a live furniture painting demonstration in Coopies Lane, Morpeth, NE61 6JN

The cabinet that’s being painted will then be available to purchase with all proceeds going to Stroke Association.

I had the pleasure of painting this coffee table for one of my lovely friends, it is at least 30 years old and after a fresh black satin paint job it looks brand new!

Today marks my one year anniversary of being self employed!

I’d like to say a huge thank you to every customer and to the companies I have collaborated with in that time.

This year has totally flown by and I am so excited for the next one!

My first post of this year had to be this lovely project I got to start 2026 with.

This set of fitted bedroom furniture was beginning to look a bit tired, swipe to the end for a before shot.

Now it’s looking much fresher after being hand painted with Intelligent Eggshell in the colour Joanna.
