A common trip-up is the height restriction for single-storey rear extensions under Permitted Development rights.

The absolute maximum overall height is 4 metres. That's a firm line. But here’s the detail that often catches homeowners out: if any part of your extension is within 2 metres of your property boundary, the eaves height (where the wall meets the roof) cannot exceed 3 metres.
