🌿 Transforming Spaces, Creating Lasting Impact 🌿

We were proud and delighted to attend the official opening of the new Sensory Garden at Portland College.

What was once an unused outdoor space has been transformed into a beautiful, purposeful environment that will provide enjoyment, relaxation, and sensory engagement for years to come.

A huge credit goes to our dedicated Vaughandale team, led by Site Manager Matthew Curtis Cooper, whose hard work, expertise, and commitment brought this vision to life.

Projects like this remind us that construction is about more than building spaces. It's about creating environments that positively impact people and communities.

We're honoured to have played a part in delivering a facility that will benefit the wonderful staff and wider Portland College community.

👷‍♂️ New Project Secured: St Peter’s Gate, Nottingham 👷‍♂️

We’re delighted to announce that we have secured a new project at St Peter’s Gate - a Grade II listed landmark in the heart of Nottingham.

Working in partnership with ARC Design Studio, we will deliver a sensitive internal fit-out, minor structural works and façade remedials. Our approach will combine the specialist care required for a historic building with the practical demands of a busy city-centre construction site.

The scheme will include works to the Welsh slate roof and leadwork cupola, masonry repairs and cleaning, timber sash windows, glazed timber shopfronts and unique internal features. Every detail will receive the care and craftsmanship it deserves.

We look forward to bringing this important building into its next chapter while protecting the character that makes it special.

Office-based, with regular travel to project sites across the East Midlands.

What you can expect:

• Hands-on involvement across live construction, refurbishment and general building projects
• Support and mentoring from experienced commercial colleagues
• Exposure to cost control, valuations, subcontractor accounts, reporting and contract administration
• A genuine opportunity to build your experience and progress within a supportive regional contractor

We’re looking for someone with:

• A Quantity Surveying degree, HNC/HND or equivalent
• Relevant construction industry experience
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
• A sound understanding of construction costs, valuations, variations and subcontractor accounts
• Confidence using Microsoft Excel

We are delighted to announce and welcome Sam Ford to the role of Apprentice Joiner at Vaughandale Construction. Sam has already started working alongside one of our site teams and will be completing his Level 2 Joinery Apprenticeship at Vision West Nottinghamshire College

👷‍♂️ Celebrating success and growth at Vaughandale 👷‍♂️

We’re delighted to announce that Alan Connor is stepping into a new role as Project Manager, moving from his current position as Site Manager.

Over the past few years, we’ve secured a growing portfolio of small works contracts reflecting our focus on high-quality bids, meaningful social value and strong relationships with new and long-standing clients, including MDC, NSDC, ADC, Center Parcs and Trivium.

As this area of the business continues to expand, we’ve created additional project management capacity within the office to support the planning, coordination and delivery of these projects.

With his extensive knowledge of our operations, clients and delivery processes, Alan is ideally placed to strengthen this part of the business and support our continued growth in the small works sector.

In his new position, Alan will lead the management and administration of our growing small works portfolio, working closely with site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently and to the high standards our customers expect.

Alan said: “I’m excited to take on this new role and look forward to playing my part in Vaughandale’s continued growth as one of the leading construction companies in the area.”

👷‍♂️ Vaughandale Delivers a Landmark Transformation 👷‍♂️

A once-empty Wilko store in the heart of Sutton-in-Ashfield has been transformed into a thriving new college campus, where hundreds of young people are preparing for careers in construction.

Following a £3.1 million redevelopment, Vision West Nottinghamshire College has officially opened its new Portland Square construction centre on Outram Street. Representatives from Vaughandale, Ashfield District Council and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government joined college leaders and students to celebrate the completion of this major regeneration project.

Across three storeys, the new facility gives students and apprentices studying electrical installation and plumbing at Levels 1–3 access to industry-standard workshops, modern classrooms and inspiring learning spaces.

It marks an exciting new chapter for this landmark building—and for the next generation of skilled tradespeople. 👏

New Ashfield District Council Project Announcement 👷‍♂️

We are pleased to announce that work has started this week on the Ashfield District Council Towns Fund Walking & Cycling Enhancement Project. The project will create safe and desirable signed routes through the enhancement of the existing pathways.

The scope of the works will consist of enhancing the existing Public Rights of Way (PROW) providing high-quality cycling and walking facilities. This will include removal of existing surfacing, earthworks, drainage improvements, resurfacing and implementation of signage and vegetation improvement.
