一對年輕夫婦新屋入伙前想換咗客廳個舊radiator, 同埋將舊heat only boiler轉做combi, 佢地選咗最高級別, 市場上最貴嘅Worcester Bosch 8000+, 呢次應該係做過咁多次system conversion以嚟遇到最困難嘅一次🤯 因為安裝位置有限, 鎅磚、改喉又要計得好準, 而且呢部機超級重！！裝多兩次Bosch應該條腰會斷, 好快要退休😆今次都一樣, 將所有嘢做得整整齊齊, 清潔好就交貨比客人啦😉

A young couple wanted to replace the old radiator in their living room and convert their old heat-only boiler to a combi boiler before moving into their new home.

They chose the top-of-the-range and one of the most expensive boilers on the market — the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000+.

This was probably the most challenging system conversion I’ve ever done! 🤯

The installation space was very limited, so I had to cut the tiles and modify the pipework, with everything needing to be measured and calculated very precisely. And on top of that, this boiler is seriously heavy!! 😰

After installing two more Bosch boilers like this, I reckon my back will give up and I’ll have to retire! 😆

As always, everything was finished neatly, thoroughly cleaned up, and handed back to the customer ready to go. 😉

客人喺新屋苑買咗間新屋，發展商因為 Building Regulations 嘅要求，唔可以將原本浴缸位置加裝 Rain Shower🚿 始終我哋香港人好多都比較少浸浴，如果個浴缸長期唔用，真係有少少浪費。所以幫客人諗咗個方法，將原本嘅水龍頭改成 Rain Shower🛁

不過前提係浴缸位置要改成全磚，所以最後客人決定索性將成個浴室改做全磚，特登訂返同發展商原本一樣款式嘅浴室磚，然後正式開工。 成個工程比預期用咗長好多時間，始終砌磚並唔係我嘅專科。但每一個步驟都用心去做, 邊做邊學, 最後對自己嘅製成品同質素都好滿意🙂

兩年前要求人教我做嘅嘢, 今日憑自己努力都一樣做得到。有時你會覺得一件事好難, 但當你肯踏前一步將佢學識，會發現原來件事根本冇人哋口中講到咁「巴閉」, 根本唔需要求人😉

A customer bought a new home in a newly built development. Due to Building Regulations, the developer did not allow a rain shower to be installed in the existing bathtub area🚿 As many Hong Kong people don’t really use bathtubs that often, leaving the bathtub there unused would be a bit of a waste. So I came up with an idea for the customer: convert the existing bath tap into a rain shower🛁

However, this meant the whole bathtub area would need to be fully tiled. In the end, the customer decided to go one step further and have the entire bathroom fully tiled. We even ordered the exact same tiles used by the developer before starting the work.

The whole process took much longer than expected. Tiling isn’t really my area of expertise, but I put a lot of effort into every step, learning and improving as I went along. In the end, I was really happy with the quality of the finished work🙂

Two years ago, I had to ask someone to teach me how to do these things. Today, through my own effort and by continuously learning and practising, I can now do it myself. So, when you think something is too difficult and you can’t do it, maybe it’s not actually impossible. Sometimes, you just need to take that first step and learn how to do it. Once you take that step, you may realise that it’s actually not as difficult as you thought it was😉

提防呃錢!! 有個客人係家長group識咗一個boiler師傅, 咁啱佢個boiler漏水, 就搵個師傅幫手。 檢查完話要換兩個零件, 一個motor同一個cartridge, 檢查費, 零件費, 更換人工續樣計, total£300🙄 但換完第二日繼續漏水, 聯絡個師傅, 佢話無辦法要換埋其他零件, 或者成個boiler換新。我個客發覺唔對路, 感覺佢咃好唔老實, 就搵我睇睇。去到嚇一跳😓, 發現cartridge 根本無換, 仲係度滲緊水出嚟, 但檢查費零件錢人工就照收佢, 我個客話會試吓追討, 希望個師傅係唔識整, 而唔係一心想呃錢😡

A customer found a boiler engineer through a parents’ group after their boiler started leaking.

After inspecting the boiler, the engineer said two parts needed replacing: a motor and a cartridge. He charged separately for the inspection, parts, and labour, bringing the total to £300 🙄

The next day, the boiler was still leaking. When my customer contacted him again, he said there was nothing more he could do unless more parts were replaced, or even suggested replacing the entire boiler.

My customer felt something wasn’t right and asked me to take a look.

When I arrived, I was genuinely shocked 😓. The cartridge had never been replaced and was still leaking exactly as before. Yet the customer had already been charged for the inspection, the new part, and the labour.

My customer plans to try to recover the money. I sincerely hope the engineer was simply lacking the necessary skills rather than intentionally misleading the customer. 😡

In this trade, honesty is just as important as technical ability. If you don’t know how to fix something, it’s okay to admit it, ask for advice, or recommend someone else. But charging for work that hasn’t been carried out is simply unacceptable. That’s not the standard any professional engineer should uphold.

我有個舊客人, 佢太太因為中風, 前排入咗醫院, 做咗移除部份頭髗骨手術, 而家係家中休養復康中。Council有派社工, 同埋轉介carer照顧佢太太, 但班local人做野粗心大意, 好多錯漏, 有次幫佢太太抹頭清潔, 整傷咗無頭蓋骨果邊傷口。另外因為要使用equipment 為理由, 入屋唔肯除鞋, 預備咗室內鞋比佢哋都唔肯換, 落雨踩完外面, 就直上睡房同廚房, 攪到地氈好多污跡, 潔淨環境對一個剛做完手術嘅病人好重要, 同council反映都冇用, 所以佢想搵一個私人香港人carer去照顧佢太太, 唔知各位有冇識朋友做呢行, 或者可以介紹？如果可以, 麻煩大家幫忙問問, 感謝🙏🏻 佢屋企係Worksop S80區。

Two weeks ago, while servicing a boiler for a regular customer, I found out he had opened a dessert shop in Mansfield. Had to pop by and support the business! 😁

另外客串幫客人鋪廚房磚, 有"平行線強迫症"嘅我嚟講係一種挑戰😆結果都好靚😘永遠敢去嘗試, 先會有得著, 下個job係挑戰鋪廁所磚😏

Work has been busy lately, and there have also been many things to deal with at home, so I haven’t posted for quite a while🙂

Recently it’s been a mix of boiler servicing, repairs, radiator installations, and replacing a boiler for a really lovely customer who was great to chat with🔌

I also took on a side challenge helping a customer tile their kitchen wall. For someone like me with “parallel line OCD”, it was definitely a challenge😆 But the final result turned out really nice😘

You only gain experience by being willing to try new things. Next challenge: bathroom tiling 😏
